Geek.Kon was a rousing success! Over 1,800 people attended. When we first started, we expected maybe 50-200 people would come. Then Pre-reg closed at 600+. When the UW heard this number, they immediately issued a press release. All the local news stations picked it up, the Wisconsi State Journal, The Badger Herald, The Cardinal, various blogs and live journals, and CNN. Yes.....That's right....A local news package (WKOW) featuring a tiny sci-fi/fantasy/anime/gaming con in it's first year was featured repeatedly on Sunday morning on CNN!!!! eek eek eek
I wound up selling only about 10 prints of my art at $1.00 each. But at least it's something. I want to go to ACEN this year, and I've already pre-regged for Oddessy Con.
