X Story Part Four: Do I Know You?
Please read the other three parts before reading any further. I can't emphasize that enough.

In the local farmers market of the simple Gaian village. Emilia lead Eddie by the hand past various vendors. He could smell all sorts of wonderful things as he passed by, comfortably walking on bare feet. He was certian nothing in his lost memories ever matched this simple pleasure. The both of them stopped and Emilia let go of the man's hand, "Wait here a minute, ok? I need to go get something."

"Ok," Eddie answered. He took a few steps, taking in the smells and sounds around him.

"Hey, buddy," said a voice from a well shaded booth, "You wanna buy a grunny?"

Eddie turned to the voice, his own dark shades giving away nothing, "Grunny?"

"Yeah," said the shady character belonging to the voice. He held out his hand to indicate the stacked cages behind him. "Green bunny. Grunny. You don't know about these things?"

"Sounds... vaguely familiar," Eddie responded, tilting his head sideways.

The shady character looked around a bit and leaned in closer, speaking in a softer tone as if he had some huge secret, "two years ago, on Halloween night, these little monsters got loose. Now sure, they may tell you they got all of them, but some of them got off that island. I know, cause I'm the only one who had sense enough to catch 'em." He stood up straight, "Damn thing's a GMO, anyway. You need to contain things like that or they devestate the local species."

"What's a GMO?"

"Genetically Modified Organism." The man tapped the side of his head, "X wasn't thinking when he let these things go."

"And you're thinking by selling them?" Eddie raised an eyebrow.

"No, wait... look... see... No! I'll give you a care flyer so you know how to take care of it. Just keep the little monster away from your head." The man grinned nervously.

"Pass."

"I've got a grabbit, too! I'll sell you the grabbit."

"Grabbit?"

"You know... half grunny, half common rabbit." The man pulled up a cage he was keeping below and out of sight. He plopped it on the table infront of him. Inside the cage was a green and white mottled fluffy bunny. It sniffed the air with timid innocence and then yawned with a large gaping maw.

Eddie stood for a moment. He could hear the odd growling sound the grunnies were making. It seemed a bit familiar so he made conversation as an excuse to linger. "Why've you got to keep them away from your head?"

Meanwhile, a large man looking unconfortable and out of place in a tropical shirt walked along slowly in the market. He had no interest in being here, but his boss had insisted he take a vacation. Even if it killed him, he was going to go on this vacation. The only problem... he had let his new girlfriend plan it out. He looked down at her pulling him along by his large hand. He could easily just give her a toss and be done with it, but he was letting himself be dragged along hoping she'd get bored and they could go back to the cruise ship so he could lie down and dream of work. "Ooh, Bucho," said the girl, "look at this!" She was oogling some jewlery made of polished seashells.

Gambino's head of Security didn't look. He had seen enough of this stuff all over. They even sold some of the same stuff on the ship. He looked around, hoping to spot something that might pique his interest. He straightened up when he noticed something fuzzy and green out of the corner of his eye. Lots of fuzzy and green things... in cages. Where had he seen that before? He looked over, spotting Eddie and the grunny vendor talking. A chill ran down his spine and he darted over, quick to grab Eddie by the shirt collar with one hand and hold him up. Eddie clammored with his hands, realizing he was being held up by a very large arm, probably belonging to an angry person. He kicked at the air, trying to hit anything his foot could reach.

"What the hell?!," Eddie yelled, "let go of me, you psycho!"

"You... how are you still alive?" Bucho ripped off Eddie's sunglasses with his free hand and tossed them aside. Staring back at him was a pair of eyes that looked as if the color had been washed out surrounded by a rather unplesant looking pale burn scar. Bucho furrowed his brow, "You're... blind."

"What was your first clue?" Eddie asked with a lick of sarcasm. "the fact that I didn't run when you came over? Oh wait... it's the eyes. I hear they look horrible."

Bucho gave him a good solid punch to the face. Blood began to pour from Eddie's nose and tears from the pain welled up in his eyes. He spat out a little blood onto Bucho's sleve, "Do you know me, or do you just get off on hitting blind men in the face?!"

"OMG! Bucho! Stop!" His small girlfriend was running over, completely shocked at this unfamiliar behavior.

"Bucho, huh? That your girlfriend over there? Is that your name? Think I've heard it before. I know you, don't I?"

Before he could get in anymore questions, Eddie was tossed into the stacked grunny cages on the other side of the seller's table. He layed motionless trapped in a tangle of broken cages and green bunnies. Bucho glared at the blind amnesiac, trying to gague his threat level. He let the girlfriend lead him away and headed off.

"Ow...", Eddie groaned.

"Are you ok, Eddie?" It was Emilia's voice. She seemed mildly concerned.

He reached up, tossing a few oddly cold, fluffy green critters to the side. "No. I'm more confused than ever." There was a long pause. "I'm also in a lot of pain."

As Emilia helped Eddie out of the mess, the grunny vendor finally made his apperance, out from wherever it was he had dashed to hide. "Hey! Who's going to pay for all this?!"

Finally to his feet, Eddie wiped the back of his hand under his nose and across his face, smearing the blood that was still dripping. He lifted his head up, facing toward the man, "Send the bill to Bucho. With a name like that, I'm sure he's not hard to find." He put his arm around Emilia's shoulder for stability as she began to lead him out of the smashed up mess.

"You're pretty scratched up. Let's get you home."
