Light felt, in cushy white-
openfaced like a sandwich or a prayer,
consumed beneath the tenderlovinghand
which positions aches and pains gently,
poignant, to some eyes other than these-
is cut and coddled and molded and sewn
with giant shears, and weary fingers, dulled
with ageless needle pricking damns that callouse,
and bruise the pads. Working
to stitch an apparatus, a dreamcatching device
of no loop or sinew just felt, embroided with birds
that will never sing but in return never worry
about a hawk.
