Chapter 2...My baby halfling
Rain tapped lightly on the cold foggy window of the estate of oni manor as the clouds seemed to have stood still in place and the lands below drowned in the dampness of the early evening. no animal wondered the woods nor ventured out to drink from the lakes and rivers as the lightning rolled over in the sky, lighting up every thing it seemed to have touched. on the 10th floor of the the darkened home to the red moon clan, one of the wealthiest vampires in all of kikyo pass the eldest daughter of sir Emil oni laid in her bed awake and breathing hard. she had a dainty hand that looked as pale as death on her enlarged stomach. her plump red lips would perk up and then loosen with every breath she took as the servants were busily running in and out of her room. a chamber maid would wipe the side of her face with a damp cloth to take some of the sweat off as the mid wife stood hunched over at the foot of the bed and spoke in an aged voice that sounded as if she had seen many twilights since the dawn of time itself. lady Izuna leaned her head back against the propped up pillow as her ruby red eyes squeezed closed and allowed a drawn out groan escape her throat and gripped the sheets in her free hand as more lightning lit up the room. the winds started to build up into a hard blow as they rattled the window, threatening to burst into the room at any moment as another groan of pain escaped from the soon to be mother's lips. more sweat slide down the side of her face as some of her long silky black hair fell and rested upon her shoulders while a cross laid on her breast only giving off the faint light of the candle that flickered on the night stand by her bed. "one more." came the calm voice of the mid wife as her hands stood at the ready. Izuna looked into the elders eyes as she pushed and saw the head of her child slowly start to come out from her womb. with both hands now gripping the bed and the mid wife now shouting for the servants to bring the towels and a blanket quickly the woman in labor couldn't help but cry out from the pain her child was causing her and pushed out one more time. everything went deathly silent with the exception of the rain as threw out the manor a sudden cry from a babe was herd. the old mid wife held in her wrinkled old hands a baby boy covered in nothing but blood and goo cried out his first breath into the world. gasping for air with a weak sigh of relif the mother held her arms out to hold her child after the infant had been cleaned and properly wrapped in a silk blanket. "G-give me my baby.." she said weakly and still trying to catch her breath in a shaky voice. A chamber maid near by wiped some sweat of the woman of noble blood's forehead as the crying child was placed into his mothers arms. with a faint smile her gaze was gentle and loving and placed one of her pale fingers in a caressing manner over the new born's cheek. for a moment she said nothing but look down at her son while the maids took the bloodied sheets away for cleaning and placed some clean ones on. slowly with small steps that the old woman's feet would allow she walked over to the bed and spoke in that old grungy voice of hers. "the child's name my lady?" Izuna did not look up as her finger moved from his cheek to the small patch of black hair on his head and uttered in a small voice one word. "..Angel...."
