- Welcome to Ash's Department of Life. Here you will large selection of items that will satisfy your needs.
Department of Education.
- Wow, where should I start? Many things occurred since my last update.
- There won't be 7 periods next year. We are getting a new principal. Next year is WASC. It's where they see if our school is doing it's job and stuff like that. I'm going to be a senior next year. And we will be the first IB graduating class. Who says 2006 is not the best year?
- There was a stabbing at our school two weeks ago. It was right after school. I was heading to the school library from my locker. I overheard two girls talking about a stabbing, but I ignore it. [Later found out that it occurred where the two girls were standing and if I have been earlier to the library, I would have seen it.] I saw my friend outside the library, asked him if he's doing the dissection lab, he ignored me and I went into the library. I had to print up the procedures for the lab. He comes in and tells me that there was a stabbing. To make a long story short, we went into our science class, dissected sheep hearts while we discussed with other dissecters what we heard about the stabbing, in a locked classroom, with razors. The next day, the principal told us that there was an argument, one guy took a knife out and stab another guy, he ran off, disposed the knife in a garbage can, and was chased and caught by one of our vice principals. It was on local news, newspapers, letters were sent home. And my parents are clueless about all this. But I told my brother.
- Last month, there was a rumour going around the school that one of the PE teachers was caught having sex/receiving oral sex with the tennis coach. It was an horrible image that lodged in my mind for several days after finding out. But that PE teacher still works here...
- Finals start after the Friday [27th] before Memorial weekend. But history is is long so he moved it to Wednesday and Thursday [25th-26th].
- Summer starts on June 2nd, 12:20PM.
Department of Homosexuality. - Well, the GSA held a vigil two week after the National Day of Silence. And it was AWESOME!
- When we went out there to the spirit court, podium, chairs, and speakers were all set up, thank to our leadership class.
- When lunch started, we can already see that a lot people are going to be out there supporting us. Within 5 minutes after the lunch bell rang, all our ribbons that we were passing out were gone.
- Then we started. We had people holding posters we made. And there were people who just sat on the steps to show support. We have many great teachers as our speakers. We had three of our students speaking. But moust touching one was Mary Jane coming out to the whole school. People cheered and clapped. People came up to her after this vigil to say how proud they are of her, hugged her, and how brave she was. [=
- Many people, students and teachers, were out there. Students that were behind us [we were in front of the cafeteria] we noisy though. They included the stereotypical high school groups. So no surprise there..
- Everyone in our Gay-Straight Alliance club agreed the whole vigil was a success.
- Semi-related to the GSA, our main GSA advisor was told that he might get cut due to budget cuts in education. But since then, it has been looking great for him. One French teacher is leaving, leaving the first French teacher to teacher all French classes and not math. [Our GSA advisor teaches math.] He said he might look to teach an AVID class. I just hope he doesn't get cut. We all like him more than our other GSA advisor. =
- The day after the vigil [Saturday], the GSAs in the whole school district had a meeting, which I attended with two other members from our own school and our two advisors, at a high school in Burlingame. It went quite well. We get to hear what some their GSA were doing. The GSA at San Mateo High had around 80 members. While most of the other schools, ours included, have the maximum of 15 members. We also had a guest speaker. Okay, so we had this icebreaker activity in the beginning, and I was talking to the guest speaker, which I didn't know she wqas the guest speaker at the time. So we did that and we watched a video clip about the guest speaker. Only till after the clip did I found that the person on the video was here and was the lady who I talked with. And what made me creamed my pants more was that she's a male-to-female transgender and I sooo did not know that when I first met her. We all agreed [when we wasn't around] that she was really hot. Moral of that is don't judge a book by its cover. After she talked about herself and what she went through, I felt like walking up to her and giving her a hug. But I chickened out. = After that, we talked about some things all the GSAs come together and do, like more meetings like this, gay prom [an idea I didn't really like], etc. Then the PFLAG [Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, or something] talked about their group and they bought us lunch. The advisors, guest speaker, and PFLAG ladies sat outside and the three of us from my school [Mary Jane, Jessica, and I] sat with them. Weird we didn't sit with the other students... But yea, near the end, when most were leaving, some of the Burlingame kids came out and hung with us. Our advisor [read previous paragraph], let's call him Nate dx, hung with us also - talking about various random things. Overall, it was fun and want to do this again.
- Oh did I say because I was home alone that day, I left the house without telling them. d=
- I am most certain that Mary Jane is taking me to the pride festival in San Francisco next month [25th-26th]. I found that Jessica and her are going to the pride festical in San Jose [11th-12th], and asked if anybody wants to go with them. I might go with them since I will be home alone on that Saturday. Think maybe it will be my first time in San Jose. That's sad considering living so close for almost 17 years. I went to the SF Pride last year alone, which was very sad.
Personal Department. - I am doing well. My family is doing well.
- I am temporary staying away from things I usually do online [MSN, Gaia..etc] to focus more on school work, so I can hopefully end this year with a high note. Will be online 25.4 hours next month!
- Next post will be some pictures I took at the Goodbye Rally.
