POEM 38 - The Good Old Days
I remember the time, That I had friends, I remember the time, I was younger than ten,
I remember their faces, From Sarah to Abby, I remember their eyes, They never looked at me sadly,
I remember their laughs, I remember my own, I remember the time, Our voices were in a high-pitched tone,
I remember the younger kids, Especially little 'Kat', A lively young girl, I remember how I promised that,
I'd meet her again, That I'd go back one day, Though I bet she's forgotten me, And I guess it's better that way,
She wouldn't want to see me, In the mess I'm in now, She wouldn't want to see me cry, Not even after a dark night in town,
She wouldn't like me living, With thoughts like these, She wouldn't want to see me, With forever shaking knees,
I'd like to see her again, Just like I'd like to go back, I'd even want to see the teachers, Or even the teachers who've had the sack,
But of course, that's impossible, For now and forever, I can only imagine now, Them and their school shoes of leather.
Wrote this while thinking of my primary school. I keep dreaming about them, since I miss them so much. I loved each and every one of those students, from the annoying to the tolerable, and I'd do anything - ANYTHING - to see them again.
