• Continuity: In the beginning of the film, when all of the Air Force Soldiers are on a transport helicopter, USAF Tech Sergeant Epps is wearing a pair of Oakley Monster Dog sunglasses on his head for the first minute or so. When it flashes back to him during conversation, they are gone.
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Sam says his Great-great-grandfather made his expedition in 1897. However, when Frenzy finds the article about the expedition on Air Force One, the newspaper article had a date of 1895.
• Crew or equipment visible: When Sam Witwicky arrives at the party, the camera crane can be briefly seen as a shadow.
• Continuity: When Sam and Mikaela are in the older version of the Bumblebee/Camaro, there are insert shots of the odometer & gages/dashboard which are actually from the updated Camaro.
• Factual errors: The movie states that it is the present day. However, the aircraft carriers of the naval battle group are still shown to have F-14 Tomcats parked on their decks. The F-14 was retired in March of 2006.
• Factual errors: During the attack on the Qatar base you see M1 Abrams tanks being thrown towards a line of M60 tanks. The Marines were the last active duty branch to use M60s and quickly upgraded to M1s after the first Gulf War in the early 90s.
• Revealing mistakes: During the first ride that Mikaela takes in Sam's car, both windows are obviously down during their conversation. Yet, neither one has any wind blowing on them. Their hair never moves.
• Errors in geography: In the beginning, during the Qatar scenes, you can see mountains in the background. The country of Qatar has no mountains and the highest elevation is 295 feet above sea level.
• Factual errors: The uniforms worn by Captain Lennox's team have patches on their right shoulders from the 82nd Airborne "All Americans" Division, indicating they served with the 82nd in combat. The "Airborne" tab has been incorrectly replaced with a "Ranger" tab. The "Ranger" tab is worn above the "Airborne" tab on the left shoulder when deployed with the unit and it is not used on the right shoulder.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: After Sam is chased by the dogs, and his car is circling him, He yells "Take the stupid keys", but is clearly mouthing something else.
• Crew or equipment visible: As Ron drives Sam past the Porsche dealership, the reflection of the camera car filming them is briefly visible on the dealership's windows.
• Continuity: When in the air, Air Force One is a 747. On the ground, however, it is suddenly a KC-135 painted to look like Air Force One. You can see the refueling boom when Barricade pulls up.
• Continuity: Bumblebee's windows change between tinted and untinted.
• Continuity: When Otimus Prime and Bonecrusher are fighting, they fall from a bridge onto a highway. A car with a mother and child swerves in order to avoid hitting the Transformers, and ends up at an angle, so that in order for the mother and son to see the Transformers they would have to look out of the passenger window. After the cut scene of them swerving to the side, the camera (from inside the vehicle) shows the Transformers fighting right in front of the front windshield.
• Revealing mistakes: In the city fight scene, a large piece of a building falls onto the left side of the street, yet when a citizen passes by (and probably accidentally kicks it) the piece appears to move as if it weighed nothing.
• Factual errors: Twice in the movie, the soldiers radio aircraft that they are releasing smoke of a given color. This is contrary to standard military practice which is for people on the ground to release colored smoke without saying what color it is and for the aircraft to state the color of the smoke. The people releasing the smoke then confirm that they have indeed released the specified color of smoke. This is done to avoid having an enemy listening in deceive the aircraft by releasing smoke of the same color in a different location.
• Factual errors: During the scene in Qatar where the planes are escorting the black decepticon helicopter to the base, the air traffic controller says "Bogey is on the deck" This term has never and will never be used on a military base or by any military personnel. A bogey will never be permitted to land anywhere near a military base.
• Crew or equipment visible: When they go to the lake party a cameraman is visible in Mikaela's boyfriend's truck's mirror.
• Factual errors: When the Pentagon sends a Predator drone to provide footage of the Rangers' battle with Scorponok, it is in fact an RQ-4A Global Hawk that is shown in the film.
• Continuity: When Sam is laying on his bed listening to the radio he is wearing only his boxer shorts, however, in the next scene as he runs to the kitchen he is wearing his jeans. The audio of the radio station never breaks or jumps forward so he clearly doesn't have time to put any jeans on.
• Continuity: After all landlines and cell phones are to be shutdown, people in the background of the fight scene in the city are seen using their cellphones.
• Continuity: Mikaela's nail polish appears and disappears.
• Continuity: When Bumblebee locks in Sam and Mikaela, the locks are seen to lower so that they are almost flush with the top of the door frame. However, in the next shot of Sam, the door lock is sticking up above the door quite a bit.
• Continuity: When Sam leaves his house with the Transformers his is carrying his brown jumper. The scene then changes to him talking with the Transformers and he has his brown jumper on. Then the angle changes, and he has his jumper over his shoulder again.
• Continuity: When Mikaela is getting arrested, she does not have her handbag, but when she is in the police/FBI/Sector 7 vehicle, she has it.
• Continuity: The taxi Maggie takes to her hacker friend's house is different from the taxi shown in the next scene.
• Continuity: The amount of donut on Glen's plate while he and Maggie were in
the interrogation room keeps changing. After Glen eats the donuts and finishes, only half of a donut remains. But when the FBI agents walk in, it can clearly be seen that there is one and a half donuts on the plate. And when the agent slides the plate to the center of the table, there is only a half donut on the plate again.
• Crew or equipment visible: As Sam and Miles go down the hill towards the lake, the shadow of the camera and crane are visible moving across the lakeside.
• Continuity: When driving the tow truck in the final scene, they dramatically hit a garbage can which disappears when they stop the vehicle.
• Factual errors: Captain Lennox's Special Ops team is picked up by a red and white Army UH-1 Iroquois after their battle with Skorponok. The UH-1 hasn't been a front line Army helicopter for years, and the red and white UH-1 in the movie is from the Army's reserve fleet and would not be stationed overseas. The reserve UH-1s are typically used as training aircraft.
• Revealing mistakes: In the scene in Qatar where the scorpion-like robot is attacking the soldiers, there are two main explosions. Closer examination reveals that it is the exact same explosion used twice.
• Crew or equipment visible: In the scene when Barricade is attacking Sam, when he throws Sam into the windshield of a parked car, you can clearly see that this is not their first take, you can tell that by where he gets thrown, the impression is already on the windshield.
• Continuity: At Hoover Dam when Sam is talking to Simmons about how he wants his car, his parents, and Mikaela's record erased, the giant clock behind Simmons skips about 5-7 minutes in a matter of seconds indicating several takes.
• Factual errors: The Secretary of Defense States that all U.S. military bases are at "Defcon Delta." This is incorrect. U.S. military bases are given a "threacon" designation: Alpha , Bravo, Charlie, Delta, regarding threats to the base from outside forces. "Defcon" refers to the "Defense Condition" of the entire U.S. Military, in particular the U.S. nuclear arsenal, with 5 indicating complete peacetime to 1 full out war. During the Cuban Missile Crisis we were shortly at Defcon 2, outside of the orders of the President.
• Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: In the fight between Megatron and Optimus Prime, there is a yellow Pontiac GTO shown for a second before it is torn in half. Before its destruction, the GTO's rocker panel is clearly already in two pieces which are not properly attached to the vehicle.
• Continuity: SPOILER: At the big fight scene where the Autobots and the Decepticons are fighting in the street. Mikaela hot wires a truck to transport BumbleBee. When she hot wires the car, it clearly has an automatic gearshift. Later in the scene where Mikaela is driving and bumblebee is shooting, the car has manual gears. Seen where she gears down to drive faster.
• Continuity: SPOILER: When Bumblebee takes the car over, after Sam picks up Mikaela and parks, she opens the door to go look under the hood. You can clearly see in the foreground of the shot that there's a black mark on the passenger side door/fender. It disappears in the next shot and is never seen again.
• Continuity: SPOILER: When Mikaela Banes runs to Sam Witwicky before he runs to the building to pass the cube off to the helicopter. When she is telling Sam that she is glad she got in the car with him, Bumble Bee is no longer harnessed down on the tow truck.
• Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: During the chase on the highway, one tourist bus is hit by Bonecrusher and splits in two, revealing that there are no seats.
