“Hey, Faust, take care of this for me.” Anna said, handing Faust a grocery list.
“what? I did this last week, don’t tell me-”
“yep, Horo eats too much” she handed him the credit card with a slight scowl.
“oh.” Faust said as he headed out the door. He’s always stuck with crap like this, doing errands for Anna, like he had nothing but free time to waste.
Well, He most certainly DID, But that doesn’t mean he wants to spend it kissing Anna’s a** left and right.
But hey, it’s better than any training, or chores like what Yoh and the other’s had for them every day.
As Faust headed to the store, he thought that honestly, they were happier than he ever could be. Each of them had someone that would be with them, so they were never lonely like him. Really, they were just carefree children, and he could never be as happy as them, even if he wanted to.
As Faust walked into the store, he looked around for the first thing on the list.
“lessee….uhm, does this say--?” Faust stared at the list, or if he could even call it that, being that there were only two things on the list
two very BIZZARE things. An electric chair and a Dil-
“Oh. My. God.” Faust was at a loss for words. Anna was as strange as everyone else in that house, that’s for sure. Deciding that odder things have happened to him, he went out the door, knowing that those items would not be in there.
“hm…“ Faust walked down the street, looking for any store that might possibly have any of the two things on the paper. Not expecting to find anywhere at all for the first item, he went to a sex shop, totally mortified, and feeling like a pervert. ’God, help me…’
Looking in the shop, he not only saw things that looked, uh, fun, but he saw things that looked painful, too.
“eh?!”
And then he saw the person he didn’t expect to see, not there,
not anywhere.
“H-Hao?! Faust gasped, surprised as ever and forgetting where he was.
“Yeah? Wha-oh, uh, Faust..” Hao said, looking more distant and less evil than Faust imagined him to be.
“you’re here.”
“Yes,…………….yes I am.”
“No, but, you’re here. In this place”
“oh? What, you think that there is a low I CAN’T achieve?” Hao’s shy face now had a look of arrogance.
Faust just stared in reply. This didn’t seem like the Hao that Faust knew (or thought he knew) from the shaman fights. This was a more uhm…..dare I say it….likable…Hao. Or was it Faust’s imagination? Maybe this is the real--
“So, Faust, what are ya doing here?” Hao was a lot like Yoh-kun. He was Carefree and less serious, giving no thought to what was rude and what was not. (no honorific)
“uhm….Anna.” Faust pulled out the “list” that Anna gave him earlier and showed it to Hao, hoping that would explain everything. Sadly, Hao only looked up and said’
“are you and her In a relationship now?”
“DEAR, GOD, NO! The last thing I want to do is be with--”
Hao cut him off.
“ Anna? Or a girl? Heh.” Hao had a mischievous look on his face, like he did most of the time he was around any of them. Faust felt heat go to his face, being caught off guard with that statement.
“well? I’m still waiting for your answer….you know if you stay silent, that your answer will be that you don’t like girls…I guess you wouldn’t like ‘em, after one left you for…who was it? Oh yes, one of those X-laws…” Hao smirked “ I guess if girls treated me like that, then I’D be a little desperate! Heh!”
Faust wasn’t sure whether or not to ram Hao’s face in or just cry. I mean, IT WAS true. Every single bit of it. But both didn’t seem like a good option.
Faust suddenly realized his eyes were watering and it was obvious he was about to break.
“are you sick of them?” Hao could read Faust better than he could himself.
“why are you doing this……”Faust was confused on what to do next. Why was Hao being so, being so--
“Why do you think?!” Hao looked a little irritated with what was said to him. Faust decided to not say anything.
“look, if they annoy you, why don’t you go with me? I’m not forcing you to work for me or anything, but I can guarantee you’ll be happier away from the ones who are using you. you’re an adult, for goodness sake! And if I can stay away from the police, I can get you away from them better than they ever could. And I won’t use it against you if you try to leave, I’ll let you stay as long as you want. “
“why-”
“-Am I being so nice to you? Just because I can. You seem better than the others, you’re actually quite normal when you want to be and you’re not annoying. So you’re coming with me, right?’
Hao smiled just like Yoh did. It wasn’t evil like Hao’s “I can’t wait to kill you” smile. It was just normal. Quite satisfying, thought Faust as he nodded. Faust could tell this was not a good idea at all, but he’d find it better than just running errands for Anna all the time. It’s not like the People at Funbari found him important, so they wouldn’t care if he was dead or alive. he was just an unstable burden to them, like dragging a bomb around. Maybe he would be happier, just like Hao said.
“hey, aren’t you supposed to be surrounded by your many minions?”
“………………….”
“they left me.” Hao seemed like he didn’t want to talk about it. So Faust looked back down to the ground as he followed Hao to wherever he was taking them.
“when it gets really late tonight, and they are all asleep, we can sneak in and get your stuff back from Yoh’s place. So don’t worry, okay?”
Faust never even thought about that. But what if they notice it’s gone? Then they will know he ran away from them, and there just might be a time when they actually look for him and, Man, Anna would be so pissed, and --
“um…actually, I think I’ll just leave my stuff there…”
“oh? Trying to make it look like I kidnapped you?”
“Fine, whatever.” think what you want…
“well, now, that’s even more fun! And to think I was so bored earlier!” Hao looked so innocent saying that.
“Wh-WHAT?! So you’re doing this out of boredom?!”
“yep………. And loneliness.” Hao said curtly.
Faust fully understood this.
‘he’s just like me….’ he thought. He never knew that they would ever have anything in common, especially something so huge. He then saw that Hao wasn’t going to do anything to hurt Faust.
‘He just wanted someone….’Faust dwelled on this for quite a long time, until they arrived at a huge house, that reminded him of a particular boss castle from Kingdom Hearts…
“You like it!? It’s mine!” Hao looked like a happy child who got his way. Quite far from who he used to be.
“it’s….uh…great! And so big!” Faust couldn’t help but be really happy to be there. ’I’m just too childish.’ Faust thought. Thinking that he would escape from his boring little stay at the flame inn, he entered the house carefree. With no idea why he was so happy being with someone like Hao.
‘but who really cares what happens? It’ll be fun and new!’

“I’m so happy you came, now there is someone to help fill in the empty space! And someone to talk to!” Hao was, apparently, in complete bliss.
‘he must have been alone a long time, not even friends or enemies….’
“you hungry? I’m not sure how to cook but…I can make you instant stuff…”
“oh, you don’t know how to cook? That’s okay, how about I cook something? I know how to make Sauerbraten*…..”
Hao laughed. “I don’t know what that is, but if you like it, it can’t be poisonous!”
‘what an unusual thing for a person to say….’

Faust had never felt so at home in his life. He spent the next two weeks at Hao’s house and couldn’t have been happier. Of course, today started like any other day. Faust woke up in his room, book on his face (the book he was reading the other night) and looked around for the clock.
‘it’s 9:00, he’s not gonna be up yet.’ Faust was certain. So, being that he was up from his sleep, he went downstairs and started making breakfast.
“Hm, what to make…” Faust looked in the fridge and then the pantry, finding nothing but instant meals and various types of drinks.
“what is his problem…..I’ve got nothing but this to work from….” but then, it hit Faust, that he would have to go grocery shopping if he wanted something with a little more quality than an instant meal. not to mention, it would be unhealthy if they both ate that stuff for so long…
‘but I don’t want to…..’ this was Hao’s house, after all…maybe he could go instead?
Faust heard some rustling from upstairs.
‘Perhaps I was too loud…oh dear..’
*thump thump thump*Hao came downstairs in his pajamas, rubbing his eyes sleepily as he looked up at Faust.
“wh-what…”
“uhm, good morning.” Faust decided to go on and say it. “hey, we need groceries.”
“guh-what? What is it?”
‘some kind of joke..’
“breakfast is ramen again, Hao.”
Hao suddenly perked up and sat at the table, “Yay! Instant noodles!”
“Hao, we have to get something else to eat….”
“you know, you--”
“SERIOUSLY.” Faust’s face looked rather annoyed, being Hao wasn’t really listening .
“ okay, okay, how about we go shopping for stuff, then. I’ve got money, so don’t worry about that…got it?”
“yeah, I’m going to get dressed then.” Faust began up the stairs.
“you do that, love.”
“Huh?” ‘did he just say that?!’
“oh, I’m kidding” said Hao with his usual smirk.
“yeah…okay….” and Faust went upstairs, feeling a little unusual.
‘he’s got to be just joking, it wasn’t that funny, but still, there’s now way…wait, why is he being so nice to me? It just doesn’t add up. I mean, why ME, and not the others? I just don’t get it…’
Faust was freaking out in his head again. Of course, he had a bit of good reason behind it.

Shopping for groceries with Hao was the third worst thing Faust endured in his life. (lets not get into the others) Hao had no idea what he wanted, because he had no idea how to create a meal. so Faust told Hao to wait outside until he was finished buying everything they actually needed. Not ice cream and bubblegum.
After about 45 minutes Faust was heading out of the store and to Hao.
“I’m done.” Faust pulled out a box of pocky from one of the many bags Faust struggled to carry.
“here, you wanted this, right?” he handed the box to Hao.
“I did….but I didn’t say anything….how did you know that I wanted this?” Hao looked incredibly curious.
“well, you know….y-you were obvious!” Faust said with sudden agitation.
“oh…really? I am…? I am? I-”
“yes, dammit !” Faust started toward the house quickly, hiding his embarrassment as much as he could.
‘he was being weird there…’ both thought.
!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~
After the groceries were put away the two shamans immediately plopped on the couch and turned on the T.V.
“ Heya, Faust. I know of this new channel…”
“huh? Really? What kind of shows are on there?” Faust asked with little interest.
“………..”
“well? What?” Faust turned to face Hao, who was as red as he could get.
“ uhm…I don’t know…?” Hao was obviously lying, and Faust could see right through that.
“yeah, right. What channel is it?” Faust sighed as he grabbed the remote.
“It’s 262. But, I’m not weird, ok?”
“you are for saying that.”
Hao looked away as Faust changed the channel. After two minutes of watching, Faust got the whole idea of why Hao was being so weird.
“this is….like some kinda gay channel, huh? I don’t mind..” Faust gave Hao a sincere smile, telling that he didn’t really care if Hao did like this channel or not.
“well, yeah.” Hao curled into himself like he was hiding or something.
‘wow….he’s really changed..’
“Yeah, I guess I have.”
“Hm?” Faust must have said his thoughts out loud.
“ yeah, there is a lot about me that has changed, Faust. I really don’t know if I’ll ever feel like myself again…it seems like everything I’m doing just isn’t me, y’know? And I--oh, god, I’m saying stupid human stuff now…look, can we just watch something? I’m sick of the tension.”
Faust chuckled. This was a welcomed change.
“ok, Hao-chan…”
Hao’s head shot up. Did he just say that? Faust always addressed him as Hao-san, but never Hao-chan.
Noticing Hao’s confusion, Faust replied “well, we are kind of……….friends? Uhm…..a little?” Faust smiled sheepishly.
“well, we’ve been living together for a while. You cook for the both of us. I clean the whole house sometimes….and, well, I guess we would be fools to deny so…….at least.”
There he went again. Why did Hao talk about stuff like that?
“do you want that?” Faust asked softly, looking down.” you talk about that…..being with me an’ stuff…..”
Hao’s face went red in an instant.
“wh-what do you mean? I’m not….I’m not like that, am I?”
Faust finally looked up. “why are you asking me? I you like me….like that…….just tell me!”
Hao began to stop thinking before he spoke.
“well, what would you say, anyway?! You ignore it when I say stuff like that to you…..you’re just gonna make fun of me!”
Faust then began to do the same.
“what was I supposed at say?! Wait…..” Faust’s expression turned from miffed to surprised.
“What?!” then Hao got it. “ oh….uh, yeah..”
There was a seemingly long silence, when Hao spoke.
“do I have to say it…?”
“Yeah….”
“well, then,” Hao, trying his best to re-enact a movie (XD) made eye contact with Faust. “Faust, I love you….and I REALLY hope you feel the same…and if you don’t , that’s okay too.”
“well….it certainly is unlikely….and a little fishy…but yeah, I l-love you too.” Faust tried to (key word, tried) hide his blushing face by looking down…but he ended looking stupid. (lame pun…brought to you by Choc-er-Faust-chan!)
“well….now what?”
