Confrontations
I awoke with a start for the second time in one morning, from the sudden buzzing of my alarm clock. In my shock I fell off the bed dragging the blankets down with me, I landed with a loud thud on the hard wood floor. Cole walked passed my open door whistling a tune, towel slung over his shoulder, he returned a moment later, walking backwards. After staring with a confused look apon his face, shaking his head he continued walking. I heard him laughing and thought I heard him say 'Only 'Rosi' but I couldn't be sure. Aggravated I struggled to my feet throwing the blankets back on my bed furiously. As I walked across my room to grab the black towel that was slung over the back of the white desk chair, I stopped to gaze out the window. I was in hopes that maybe, just maybe, our aunt and uncle would be home to see us off to our first day to a new school, as I could have already guessed their cars were not in the drive, only my silver sports car and Cole's black dodge truck was in veiw. Our aunt and uncle were in buisness and rarely were ever home when the rest of the neighborhood was awake. Slightly depressed by this information I grabbed the black towel off the chair and walked into the hallway. It was decorated with all sorts of pictures, trinkets, and painted a beige color, it smelled as if it was only painted a month or so ago, which it probably was. Most likely my aunt's pitiful attempt to help make us feel at home, but it's the thought that counts right? I could hear water running in the downstiars bathroom through the floor; I headed towards the one at the end of the hall way across from our aunt and uncle's bedroom. I never could figure out why Cole never used this bathroom it was much closer and he was usually up long before my subconsious was even thinking about departing myself from a dream. As I opened the bathroom door, flipping on the light switch the small room filled with light. As well like the hallway it smelled freashly painted, the theme was blue. Throwing the towel on top of the toilet, I examined my self in the mirror. My strawberry blonde hair was in tangles, there were light purple circles under my mis matched eyes -- one green, one blue -- they looked permanent in my pale ivory skin. I realized then why Cole was so worried. I shrugged nothing a little make up couldn't fix. Turning around to adjust the water temperature to my liking, I stripped off my over sized t-shirt and shorts for pajamas and stepped in to the shower. The water immediatly woke me up. Stepping out of the bathroom clutching the towel close to my body, I began to make my way back to my room. I heard Cole comming up the stairs, wide eyed I dashed through my bed room door, just as I saw Cole's figure reach the top step. Takeing a deep breath, I went to my closet. After rummaging through my clothes I finally decided on rich brown jeans and a pale powder pink blouse. After I was dressed I blow dried my hair, in which like always cam out in perfect curls, a trait from my mother that I could carry around always. Just as I was about to head downstairs I remembered I was going to cover up those circles. As I entered the kitchen Cole already had our bags on the counter ready to go, I didn't fail to notice that he also had an extra bowl and spoon set out next to the cereal and milk. I sat down across from him. He looked up smiling as he stood to place his dishes in the sink. "You know I could have done this my self," I mumbled to him pouring the cereal and mile together in the bowl He knodded "I know" Suprised "then why did you do all of this for me" I motioned to the bowl and my bag He shrugged "didn't know how long you'd be" then he disapeared in to the next room "Oh" I looked down finishing my cereal I guess that makes sense I stood to put my dishes in the sink on top of Cole's, clinking as they touched. From the sounds from the other room it sounded as if Cole left to go watch t.v., walking in to the living room my supisions were confirmed there he was sprawled across the couch watching god knows what. He stood quickly when he saw me and turned off the t.v. "come on or we'll be late" he ducked out the door after that. I followed, when I reached outside he was already turning the engine to my car. Shutting the front door I cursed my self for being so ungodly slow. As I climbed in to the passengers seatI managed to hit my head in the process. Cole had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing. I glared at him and put on my seat belt "just drive" I told him bitterly, he wasn't holding back his laughter now. I was particularly glad that Cole had visited the school the day before to retrieve our class scheduales and get a good idea on the lay out of the school. If I was driving I would deffintatly be bound to get lost; the school was hidden amoung trees making it impossible unless you knew were to look for the drive way to enter the parking lot. "Eighty Four is the most confusing town in the whole world" I said looking out the window watching trees flash by Cole laughed "And you use to live in New York! Eighty Four is about one thousandth the size of New York and you get around that huge city bllind folded" he looked at me with mocking eyes. I ignored him and continued to stare out the window, he pulled in to the lot five minutes later. I got out of the car paying extra attetion to the door this time. This made Cole chuckle, I glared at him. "shut up!" I slung my bag strap over one shoulder "hey" putting his hands up in defense "it's not my fault your such a clutz" Rolling my eyes and stalking away "what ever" I told him (finish rest later)
