• Once upon a time there was a young and frightened girl
She had created sanctuary in her own little world
A place where she could stay, and live there safe and sound
A place where she could always go and yet never be found

The others never understood, they laughed and called her names
Inside herself she knew that they hurt too, in different ways
But she began to listen, and their words broke her heart
The little world inside her head was starting to fall apart

Just because she knew another way to see the world
People have to go and hurt that little girl
Just because she had a place to go when she felt sad
You all have to go and rip apart what she had

Now she's lost herself, she's been left all alone
She cannot see or find the place she used to call her home
Reality and conformity stole her mind away
Leaving her displaced, a ghost of yesterday

She used to be a prodigy and now she's been destroyed
Because you ruined the world she'd made, the world she had enjoyed
You hypocrites, look in the mirror, if you had only known
You have an imaginary sanctuary of your own

It's human to hide away from reality's painful truth
So easy to fake it all away inside the mind of a youth
This girl had just made up a home inside her head
Now she's homeless in the real world, because of what you said.
