...Appreciate the blessings life gives you now...
Those were the days
11 years old when I told you I fell for you
12 years old when my love confirmed it was true
Several years before I had a crush on you
Glancing nervously at you, that just what I do
18 tryin’a piece together my heart
Cause when I was 14 is when you broke it apart
4 years stuck between a rock and a hard place
Steady tryin’a figure how to rid me of your face
You were sweet as orange turned sour as a lemon
You were my whole life, you were worth livin’
For you baby girl my life was worth givin
Until you said you don’t love me; that was hard hittin’
But don’t worry about me, psh, who am I kiddin’?
You never really care, don’t say you did cause you didn’t
I tried to get you back but you was to far to get
I finally realize your love was never legit
Those were the days I can never forget
Those were the days I can also regret
Those were the days I can never forget
Those were the days…
I remember the time I stayed up all night
Tryn’a figure out if you’re alright which led to a verbal fight
You’re tryn’a to tell me to go bed
I didn’t care about sleep I cared about you’re well being instead.
Thinkin’ of what I said, What was goin’ through my head?
As I helped you while fleeing from punishment I dread
From my parents telling them I was doing my school
Now that you left me I feel like such a fool
I risked everything for you, givin’ you my whole heart
Not knowin’ this was something we couldn’t finish but only start
But now, I notice that I still feel alone
People told me to forget and just move along
People said and encouraged me to be strong
Cause it wasn’t my fault, she was in the wrong
Fallin’ in love with you baby now I regret
But those are the days I can never forget
Those were the days I can never forget
Those were the days I can also regret
Those were the days I can never forget
Those were the days…
Lying, trying, crying, and lonely
I was missin’ you and you only
Couldn’t get ya off my mind
Even though you were colder than winter time
You were like a brisk breeze that turned into a storm
Picked me up, swept away without an alarm
You stabbed me, why did ya have to cut me down?
To make matters worst, you left my heart on the ground
And then you walked away and without nothin’ to say
Leaving me to die in the light of the day
But that’s alright and that’s okay
You don’t love me no more? Fine I’m going my way
Don’t sit and explain, you have nothin’ to explain
No words in this world could replace the pain
Love is a gamble that I lost and regret
But girl you’re cruel and it’s you I hope to forget
Those were the days I can never forget
Those were the days I can also regret
Those were the days I can never forget
Those were the days…
...for you never know how soon life will ask for them back...
