Episode 1: Dawn
It was almost midnight but the warmth of the afternoon sun still lingered through the city and the fields surrounding it. It had been a cloudless day, perfect for stargazers. Stargazers, like Stroud. Stroud was an average young man by most standards: intelligent, but an underachiever, good looking, but not magazine material.
Stroud yawned as he looked up to the stars, like he did every night. They looked perfect as always. Just as he closed his eyes, ready to take a nap, a strange noise came from the sky. He got up slowly and wiped the fatigue out of his emerald eyes.
'What was that just now?' he muttered.
The sound repeated itself, this time accompanied by a bright green light. Stroud covered his forehead with his hand to get a better look at the scene. He gasped as a bright green comet came down from the sky and crashed, less than a mile from where he was standing. 'What is that thing?' he said, still recovering from the event he had just witnessed.
He approached the small crater the comet had created, his heart pounding like crazy.
'Hello?' he shouted and immediatley felt stupid for calling out to a piece of cosmic rock.
Just as he turned back, determined not to get involved in any weird stuff, a cough came from the crater.
Stroud froze in place. Did the comet, which was about the size of a human head, just cough? He gulped, maybe it WAS a head!
He peered in to the crater and saw a figure with long green hair, dressed in strange but expensive, ancient looking clothes. The figure wore a gold mask, vaguely shaped like a bird face with red eyes. The figure wiped some dust of its clothes and sighed. 'Nothing broken it seems, only my confidence in my flying abilities.'
Stroud tried to back up but tripped and, after a very short struggle against gravity, fell over.
The figure turned its head at him and smiled. 'Ah, greetings native.' he said. 'Could you by any chance tell me where I am at the moment?'
Stroud didn't bother getting up, his legs wouldn't allow it anyway. Instead he uttered 'W-Who are you?!'
The figure slapped his palm against his forehead. 'Oh of course, I'm sorry. My name's Stroud, and you are?'
Stroud opened his mouth but nothing came out.
He tried again. 'Stroud...' he muttered
The figure smiled 'Yeah, I know thanks. I didn't land all that hard.'
Stroud shaked his head. 'No, I'm Stroud...'
The other Stroud laughed. 'Oh I see, isn't that a coincidence.'
Stroud got up slowly. 'What just happened? Did you really just fall from the sky in that rock?'
The other Stroud nodded.
Stroud was baffled. 'But how?'
The other Stroud grinned. 'Do you believe in supernatural entities Stroud?'
Stroud wanted to say no, but afraid he would offend this strange character, he nodded.
'Good.' The other one said. 'I'm an Immortal. I come from a world very far away from this one.'He continued: 'I had to escape from my own world in a spectral state, that's why I was able to hide inside this piece of rock.'
Stroud nodded. It didn't matter, he'd wake up soon and this "Immortal" would be gone.
The other Stroud looked up at the sky. 'I sure hope they didn't follow me here though.'
Right after he said it, a red light appeared in the sky and soared around the area where they were standing.
The immortal immediatley got serious. 'Damn it, looks like they did!'
The red light stopped for a moment, then headed right at them.
Stroud stepped back and gasped. 'What is that thing?!'
The other stroud grabbed his hand and shouted over the roaring which the red light caused in its dive towards them. 'I need to use your body!'
Stroud mustered up the courage to sound offended. 'Excuse me?'
The immortal spoke really fast. 'I can't protect you in my current form. Let me inside your mind and body and I'll share my power with you!'
Stroud nodded, not sure what else he could do. 'Alright, but you have some explaining to do!'
They merged together in a bright flash of green and gold. Stroud looked at his body and saw that he was now the Immortal's image, but solid. He still felt like a human being but somehow stronger.
The other Stroud's voice sounded in his head. 'Looking good, you ready to kick some butt kid?'
Stroud nodded. 'I feel stronger than ever!'
The voice laughed. 'Alright kid. Look we're not completely merged yet so I'll walk you through this.'
That's all he could say. The red light had landed before them and inside was was looked like a birdman covered in razor sharp, red and gold feathers. A very angry looking birdman.
