CHAPTER 130 - HELLO, GOODBYE
Sure, our visits are limited, but how limited is our actual time together? Better make the best of it.
.:{{Arisa's Perspective}}:.
I hadn't even been at Matsuda and Orhime's for two days and I already felt trapped. If the situation was just a casual move-in back with Matsuda and Orihime, I'd be fine, but since I was to be quarantined, I felt like an animal. The first thing I did when I got to the mansion was just collapse onto the bed and allow a few lonely tears to slip out. I didn't want my life to end, especially my life with Kai. Kira eventually ended up coming upstairs to comfort me after he probably picked up the scent of my tears. The only thing he did was crack corny jokes and tell stories about Kai from over a hundred years ago and all of the stupid things they had done together. That managed to crack a smile on my face.
I was woken up the next morning with a hearty greeting; Kai was going to be visiting sometime during the day. We'd only get up to four hours with each other, but every second would be worth it. After hearing that, I immediately rolled out of the bed and hurried downstairs; I wanted to be the first one to greet him.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Nana, stay in the lines!" Ai demanded immaturely.
I never imagined how stressful a coloring book could truly be. I was just as coloring-disoriented as I was clumsy. Ai, surprisingly, was coloring with such grace and was so precise as to stay in the lines. I had never seen a six-year-old color so perfectly. It was her nature; she was a Vampire. She drew like a six-year-old but her coloring was to envy over.
"I can hardly pick up a crayon; how do you expect me to color?" I giggled.
"Arisa," Matsuda kneeled down and shook my shoulder lightly. "You have a guest."
I gasped and immediately show upwards onto my feet. In the doorway of the living room was such an enamoring creature. I had been separated from him for a day and it already felt like an eternity. A squeal escaped from my mouth and I sprinted to him, embracing him tightly. He chuckled lightly and reposed his hands on my waist. After another short moment, I jumped away from him and blushed, gripping my messy hair.
"Oh--" I turned away from Kai. "I-I look like crap." I admitted regretfully, remembering my sleep attire of a camisole and sweat pants that Orihime let me borrow. My hair completely topped off the look; I had major bedhead hair and it was already past noon.
"You're so desperate for attention," Kai chuckled while gripping my shoulders lightly and kissing my cheek from behind. "You're fine."
"Aww, Arisa's blushing like a school girl!" Kira snickered.
I blushed a little heavier and beamed at Kira as Kai released his grip on my shoulders. He turned me around and held onto my right wrist and examined it. The brace was still on it but I couldn't feel any pain at all.
"How is it?"
"I can't even feel it," I smiled. "Matsuda managed to heal it a little because I guess it was a little out of place. He said it should be healed in a couple of days."
That was one thing I loved so much about Angels; when they can heal a broken bone, it heals in half the time as a normal broken bone. That would also mean that Miku would be healed in a matter of a few months rather than over six months. Miku...I wondered how her and Takeuchi and Toshihiro were doing.
"May I speak with you, Arisa?" Kai offered kindly, reaching his hand out for me to grab it.
I nodded and gripped his hand and as soon as I did, Kira laughed even louder, "Don't be too loud, you spontaneous little animals, you,"
Kai ignored him and started leading me upstairs but I ended up flipping Kira off before we reached the top of the stairs. It bugged me how Kira was so upfront about the relationship Kai and I shared. We weren't going that far, not for a long time. I knew Kira was teasing but it could really send me on a guilt trip sometimes. As soon as Kai and I reached the bedroom, I stood near one of the windows--the same window I was at when Kai first attacked me almost a year ago.
"It's queer how relationships develop," Kai chuckled, reading my thoughts.
"Yeah," I frowned and tapped my finger on the window repeatedly. "Anything from Minoru and Kaiba yet?"
"No," I could hear Kai's sigh. "But that doesn't mean they won't come back."
My heart sank again and I sighed, keeping my cool, "Oh,"
Kai stood at the window with me and gripped my chin with two fingers and turned my head towards him. He stared at me, causing me to blush lightly, "Maybe if their absence drags on, we can bring you back,"
"I wish I could come back today," I mumbled and looked back up at him. "I feel like an animal already."
"Don't feel like that; Orihime and Matsuda will take great care of you. They don't desire to quarantine you but it's to keep you safe."
With a sigh, I trudged over to the bed and sat myself down. I glanced down at the floor and ran my hand through my messy hair a few times, "I know, but it's hard to not live with you every second. I mean, back in January when you dropped me off at the orphanage, I could never sleep. I'm just such a person of routine that when something changes, I'm disoriented." I sighed even heavier and blushed in embarrassment. "It sounds like I'm obsessed with you."
Silently, Kai placed his hands on the bed on either side of me and nuzzled his face against my cheek. He would sigh every few moments and kiss my cheek. He gently pushed me down onto the bed but then rolled us over so I was on top of him. I kissed him all over his face except for his lips, trying to tease him a little. I kiss his ear and breathed in it semi-heavily, whispering a few little cute phrases. Kai's hands were halfway up my shirt and he would just lie still. His hands were so cold but I still adored the feeling of his touch. I'd be willing to suffer hypothermia from him.
"What?" Kai laughed and pulled me back a little.
"Can't you be a little more generous towards my privacy?" I frowned at him.
"I'm entertained by what goes on in your head," he chuckled. "Have you always thought that way?"
"No, because I've never had a boyfriend before," I frowned at him. "What do you always think of?"
"You," he replied simply. "Because you're perfect."
I stared at him for a moment and frowned even more, "Nobody's perfect, Kai. I'm not perfect--obviously--and, believe it or not, neither are you." I bit my lip, surprised I actually told him that.
"Oh?" he raised an eyebrow. "What would you change about me?"
I thought for a moment, "Your body temperature and your odd ways of trying to turn me on,"
"It works, though, does it not?" he smirked coyly.
I blushed heavily, "What would you change about me?" I quickly changed the subject.
"Hmm," Kai thought for a moment. He pressed his right index finger against the tip of my nose. "I don't like your mosquito-bite boobs."
I gasped out loud and immediately jumped off of him, "Oh, the nerve of you!"
"Now, now, no hard feelings," Kai laughed, climbing off of the bed.
"I can't help how I was born! Aya took everything I don't have!" I argued immaturely.
"Shh, you're fine," Kai chuckled and wrapped his arms around me from behind, kissing my ear. "I wouldn't change a thing about you, except for your lack of immunity."
"Yeah," I looked down in disappointment. And my confidence. Wouldn't that be amazing to change?
"Don't be getting all self-conscious on me, now," Kai turned me around and pecked my lips. "You're fine the way you are." He frowned at me.
"I'll get boob implants," I frowned as Kai kissed my jaw line. "Apparently guys like girls who actually have something on their chest."
"Stop it," Kai mumbled and kissed my lips. "I love you the way you are, Arisa..."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Lying on our sides on the bed, Kai and I had been facing each other for the past hour, just staring at each other, occasionally touching each other's cheeks or giving each other a gentle kiss. Kai still possessed the habit of kissing my throat and my clavical but he didn't bite into my neck as much as he used to. For a short while, he had his arms wrapped around my hips and his lips pressed against my stomach.
There was a knock on the bedroom door and Kai's face fell. I looked away, "You have to leave, don't you?"
Kai nodded, "I'm afraid so,"
We climbed off of the bed and left the bedroom, heading downstairs towards the front door hand-in-hand. Ai had started coloring again and Kira was assisting her that time. At the front door, Matsuda was standing with a pair of clothes in his hands. He approached Kai and handed them to him.
"Go outside and change into these clothes and leave your current clothes on the front step," Matsuda requested. "We can't have Minoru and Kaiba tracking Arisa's scent back."
My heart dropped and nearly started oozing out of my toes as Kai nodded. He turned to me and landed one more passionatae kiss on me. I wanted to pull him closer but we couldn't stall anymore. He took the clothes from Matsuda, gave me one last look, and left out the front door. I waited for another moment before looking out the front door at Kai driving off to an empty home and his worn clothes on the front step.
"Don't fret, Arisa," Matsuda wrapped one arm around my shoulders. "He doesn't want to be doing this. His heart is breaking just as audibly as yours."
"Yeah," I mumbled and looked down with the weight of the world dropping onto my shoulders once more. It's scary to not know how much time is left. I loved him dearly but I couldn't bring myself to jump to his level. I was going to be stuck the way I was forever.
