I was miserable 70% of the time. If I wasn't bickering with my brother, I was bickering with my mother. She was in a bad mood the entire time, and my friend's mom was no better. She's such a control freak.
So we were all in bad moods most of the time.
It took us 14 hours to drive there - leaving at 7 in the morning - with one lunch stop and several bathroom breaks. The van broke down for about a half hour when we got past Denver, but it started up again after we'd called the tow truck. We called and told them we were fine then went on our merry way.
We went cross country skiing twice, so my mom and brother could get better at it.
The third day, we went and painted pottery, which we picked up on Friday. It was a painfully long and specific process. I'm such a perfectionist. I don't like the final piece. I messed up, I know I did. >>
On the fourth and fifth days we went downhill skiing. One day we took lessons (My friend and I were in level 3, my mom and brother in level 1, and my friend's mom was 'too good for lessons') and then the second day we just skiied. I went on a trail with my friend and her mom, but Alexis (my friend) hurt her knees really bad. I didn't realize my right knee hurt badly until later that night. I couldn't even walk on it, it hurt so bad.
My lessons for downhill skiing was great. There were only seven students, two of which shouldn't have even been there (they should have gone to level 2), so we got pretty good one-on-one attention. What made the day really great, though, was the fact that two good-lookin' Irish guys (Anton and Mark) in our group kept flirting with Alexis and I. It was so obvious, it was funny. Once I rode the ski lift with Mark (I think it was him, they looked too much alike and they wore goggles most of the time) and Anton rode with Alexis. I apparently seemed skittish (though I wasn't) so Anton called up to the two of us and told me, "Don't worry, Caitlin! He only bites if you ask him very nicely!" Mark looked rather smug.
It was also a very obvious boost to their egos whenever they got to help us up after a fall. (I fell down more often. Mark always seemed to magically appear by my side. Funny.) I was a much, much faster and had good control with it, which annoyed them greatly. Alexis was faster than they were, too, but I was quicker than she was. -cackle-
Once, they told us, "Hey! That isn't fair! We're guys! We're supposed to be faster than you!"
It was the most entertaining of all the days on the trip. Though a lot of the guys (snowboarders in particular) kept watching us. Ever heard the phrase "skiing is a great way to pick up chicks"? Apparently, they take it to heart.
So that's about it.
I'll get caught up on everything I've missed over the last week. <3
