And as he looked apon me, his face softened, as did the rock that encased me. I blinked and the rock shattered, as did his precious face. At the second that my eyes had opened, he had looked into my eyes.
Soft black hair turned marble white as calm blue eyes turned hard, stone grey. His face froze in a grimace of fear and pain as the stone enveloped his body from the inside, out.
I sobbed and fell forward onto my knees, wrapping my arms around his waist, the only person to show me compassion in over a thousand years, and I had killed him.
I lifted myself from my knees and lay a soft kiss apon his marble lips, and a silver tear fell onto his cold stone cheek. A crack formed across his face, and it split, revealing the soft pale skin of my love. His arms wrapped around me and he pulled me close. I gasped quietly, and his lips met mine, his soft and warm against my own.
My hideous form shrank, and my wings melted away. The vipers that served as my hair melded into a cascade of gold down my delicate form's back. I was young, and beautiful again, and I loved him as he loved me.
