Blood red clouds in a rusty sky...
The fires rage on here in Victoria.
Though this first month of summer has been mild to say the least thus far, this is still one of the worst bush fire seasons
we have ever had and each day we pray for the safety of those who stand in its path and for those who now suffer in its wake.
The world itself seems alien as I wake each morning and look out my window to a rust-red sky.
Shadows are cast in golden hues as the sun burns defiantly behind clouds of thick smoke.
It is becoming harder to breathe each day and more and more people are confining themselves to their homes.
Rarely venturing out on foot, the sidewalks are all but deserted during the day.
More and more I see couriers riding their bikes or scooters, delivering meals to the masses as less people venture from the sanctuary
of the office to seek nourishment in the restraraunts and cafés, and traffic has become heavier on the roads as people try to
keep to the safety of an indoor environment whether that be their office, homes, or cars.
Public malls are a nightmare as last minute shoppers pile in, I feel my skin crawl if I am pressed to close to them.
Though this is not usually a problem as I walk around in my coloured wigs and a mask from the local Paint Shop.
... They part like the red sea before Moses.
I laugh inwardly at myself each day as I would surely be mistaken for a Yankee, were this the streets of Japan.
I’m certain I have startled a number of people with this particular look of mine at the moment. But that does not bother me.
I would rather be able to breathe comfortably than worry about social etiquette.
