As some of you know, I've been fighting a rather unpleasant bug for over two weeks now. The day after I got back from my trip, I woke up feeling like complete garbage, and have been the same ever since. Coughing, body aches, sore throat, sore ears, low-grade fever, the works.
I finally caved in today and asked my dad to take me to the clinic, since I was getting fed up.
After waiting for like, three hours, during which I had a baby girl drool on my arm and a boy of about 7 hump my leg (I kid you not, he climbed onto it, put his head on my knee, and started rocking back and forth, until I coughed really loud, told him I was sick, and that he should move), they finally called me in.
In walks the clinic's young new doctor. Not too bad looking, either. Then again, after being surrounded by snotty toddlers for so long, Willem Dafoe would probably have looked slightly appealing to me. So anyways, he asks me what's wrong. I give him the whole "aches, pains, coughing, bla bla bla" schpiel. Same one I gave you dear folks at the top of this entry. He hmmms, nods. Starts asking me if I have stress at work. No, I don't work. Have I been depressed lately? Any thoughts of suicide? Of course I'm depressed, you hippy-dippy douchebag. I've had the flu for two weeks! But really, what does this have to do with me being sick?
Ooh, I see. It's a virus. No meds. But clearly, I cannot start getting better until I "heal my mind". Right. Thanks. And yes, I'll definitely take you up on your suggestion of homeopathetic supplements. Despite having been told repeatedly by my endocrinologist that with all the statins and s**t I'm on, taking these things can be hazardous to my health. But of course Dr. Free Thinker who knows ******** about my medical history knows better.
Ugh. If I'm still feeling like this next week, I'm calling my GP and whiiiining to get an emergency appointment.
