Redemtion Part II

They suffered through many hardships, done much wrong. But it was only wrong within the eyes of Dia De Las Alas. The land they had been forbidden to live in anymore. The land they all knew the true secret of. The land that gave them so much hatred. The land of deception. Their home.

Chan remembered everything about Dia De Las Alas whenever she looked at the wings of her close friends. She winced on the inside. Always trying to forget their tainted past, choking back her own tears to save the misery of everyone else around her, to put an end to worry. This time there was no choking back. No tears came as they all stood there depressed in front of the fire. Instead of tears that could be held back, Chan let out words that thrashed around inside her head for many years. Words that clawed at her every night, causing her to lose sleep. Words that could no longer keep on thrashing or clawing. She let them out, “You guys… remember my brother… right?” They all paused from their floor staring and turned to Chan. One of them said “how could we forget?”
“well,” Chan paused and tried to suck the words back, tried to hide them again, never to be heard by other ears, for everyone to just forget what she said, but she failed, “you… know why he… wanted me to kill him?”
“He couldn’t stand to live,” answered Joyce.
“Yes but… he… couldn’t stand to live because…” She wanted to shut herself up once and for all. The desperation rose up in her. Her chest was heavy, she couldn’t breathe, yet she couldn’t stop what she was saying. It was held in for too long to just stop there. It was too late to go back. The words flowed out like a note from a musical instrument, “he knew the secret.”
