I stared at him, the guy with red blood eyes. What I was really worried about was the sword positioned at my throat. My back was against the tree and to make matters worse, I was tied helplessly to the tree also. He had me pinned, and there was nothing I could do about it.
“W-Who are you?” I said through clenched teeth.
“My name is Zaku.” He hissed.
The blade got closer to my throat. I had to stall for time. Maybe someone would come, but even though I doubted that, it was my only hope.
“I recognized your aura even though I’d never met you before. What’s the deal with that?” I glared at him.
The blade moved a little back. “Hmmmm. I don’t think you should be asking such questions.” Zaku said as he moved the blade closer. I was feeling light headed again, which was a horrible sign. It was taking all the energy I had to try to stay awake. I was about to drift to the land of unconsciousness again, but there was a rustling noise in the trees. It wasn’t wind, but it was more like a person moving from one tree to another. I heard voices behind me, obviously Zaku’s gang. Their voices sounded a bit nervous, though. One was whispering something about a valuable dragon. Another one whispered something about a guy terminating them. It really made no sense to me. I couldn’t make heads or tales from it all. What did this Zaku guy have to do with me? What’s all this about a dragon? I was getting even more confused just thinking about it. So much for logic. The rustling sounded got closer and louder.
“Boss! Shouldn’t we leave before another dragon shows up? We’ve done our part. I’m sure they have the girl by now.” One of the men shouted nervously.
Girl? Who did they mean? And another dragon? There was a first? Thoughts ran through my head.
“I’ll be done in a second.” Zaku promised. He moved the blade from in front of my throat and moved it next to my face. I could feel the fear in my own eyes. He moved the blade so close it touched my cheek. Then we cut a small line on my cheek. Blood ran down my cheek. His eyes were filled with even more bloodlust then I had ever seen.
Before he could do any more damage, the rustling grew even louder. It grew increasingly loud. Something moved. It was live moving a movie. A shadow moved a grabbed the blade out of Zaku’s hand in a split second. The shadow was a person, but I couldn’t make it out. I was too tired. I hung my head before I could make out who it was. My eyes were closed, and I was on the verge of going unconscious. I had no idea who my savior was, but whoever it was, the person must have been a friend.
“Dragon!” Shouted one of people in Zaku’s gang.
Dragon? It was a human. Those were my last thoughts before going unconscious again. Man, I lose consciousness at the worst times.
