The small figure sat huddled against the wall rocking back and forth slightly. Upon closer inspection one would see a girl, no older than six. Her black hair in striking contrast against her grayish colored skin. Her once-brown eyes had been drained of their color the night before. Her eyes were now almost white and the white of her eyes were red and bloodshot. Around her eyes were dark shadows. The small zombie girl was called Lilly.
She felt sick and alone. All of the other infected seemed to have lost all of their ability to think or feel emotional pain. Though the girl had lost the ability to speak she still had a functional brain. She would soon start decaying, she knew that much. The cells in their bodies stopped reproduction and the body almost altogether shuts down. After watching the zombies around her a girl can pick up a few things. The other zombies don't seem to want much to do with her and she doesn't dare go near a human. She wasn't sure if the other infected were capable of crying, though she could. She sobbed quietly with her knees pressed against her chest. She cried for her mother, for herself, and for every other unfortunate soul who was bit. She pressed a hand up against her heart, and felt no beating. Lilly wished she could feel it again, if only for a moment. A porcelain doll sat beside her on the old carpet of the nearly abandoned building, it's golden curls seemed to lighten the room, yet add an eerie feeling to the place at the same time. The girl picked the doll up and hugged it tightly. She stood, her movements were slightly lethargic, though the lethargy was still noticeable. Lilly started walking towards the door, other wandering zombies didn't seem to notice her. They groaned and ran into things. Lilly grimaced and thought, At least I didn't end up like those idiots... After thinking this she felt guilty, they used to be humans like she once was.
