"Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly."
The young girl stood in the kitchen of her suburban home, her mother and father standing before her and her healthy brother. They already knew what their parents were going to tell them. Their brother was dying - again. Their parents' faces was sunken and grim looking, with dark shadows under their eyes. As they worked up the nerve to tell their children, they bit back tears. Their mom spoke first, "Your brother needs a new kidney. If he doesn't get one in time, he'll die." Even though they both have heard words similar to these before tears caught in the childrens' eyes. No one in the family was a match to her brother, so they had to wait for a donor to donate a kidney.
The youngest child, and the only girl, was called Susan Marie Kingsly. Her brother had been ill since she was seven-years-old; well technically since she was five but they caught it when she turned seven. Susan has her mother's bright blue eyes and her father's brown hair with a hint of red in it from her mother. Her parents spend all their time at the hospital or working to get money to pay the bills. Sometimes she finds herself feeling jealous of her sick brother, but then the jealously is quickly replaced with sympathy. She spends most of her time with her healthy brother, who watches her when their parents are gone. Though, she argues that she doesn't need a babysitter.
Susan rummaged around in her room searching for money. She managed to get enough for the new game she's been wanting. She rushed off on her bike to the game store and purchased it. She rode home with one hand on the handlebars the other holding her new game. Upon arriving at her house she ran inside and powered up her old desktop. She put in the disc and waiting for the game to pop up. When it did it asked her what she wanted to be classified as. She read over each one carefully before chosing. "Hmm. Cleric." She mumbled to herself with the mouse hovering over the word. If she was really able to heal, she would heal her brother's cancer. She clicked that cleric and after a moment the screen read, "Uploading Player."
She awoke slowly, and tried opening her eyes but the sun's rays blinded her. Susan covered her eyes and sat up, realizing she wasn't in her house any longer. Okay, don't freak out, Susan. There has to be a logical explanation for this. She thought to herself. Despite her calming thoughts she was starting to "freak out." She stood quickly and took in her surroundings. She was obviously outside, but this didn't look like anywhere she's ever been. Looking down at her clothes she noticed she wasn't wearing her jeans and tee shirt. In it's place was a white and blue dress with a belt around her waist. The dress was tight on top but flowed freely at the bottom. She also had on a blue cloak with a hood. "Okay. Now, this is weird." She said aloud feeling the soft fabric.
Susan had the urge to slap herself just to see if she was awake. Her strange attire and the strange place, it was almost as if... As if she were in the game! Nonono! That's not possible! She thought frantically. If she was in fact asleep it would be the most realistic dream she has ever had. She wanted to tell herself she was dreaming, but her thoughts kept proving her wrong. Everthing was much to tangible. She took a deep breath in and ran her slim fingers through her curls.
