Loud Mouth
Am I the only one that thinks it’s more than a little grade school to walk through the hallways and hear girls screaming like a B-list bimbo being chased down by Freddy Krueger, flashing his nine-inch nails? Am I the only one that thinks it’s unnecessary to laugh, “AHHH! Ha-ha!” Seriously. You’re having a good time. Not a heart attack. Some people, both in class and in the halls, and most certainly at lunch, have a mouth to rival Steven Tyler or Gene Simmons. (Google them) It’s inappropriate for this academic setting and, you know what? It’s murder on sufferers of chronic headaches like me.

That being said, there’s nothing wrong with talking and laughing. At a normal level. Just like I have no problem with Aerosmith and KISS as long as the volume is set at a reasonable level, I don’t have a problem with normal people having normal conversations. I can’t say, however, that I’m looking to have my ear drums blown out. The United States is all about protecting the rights of the people, and you know what? I happen to know that it’s my right not to feel like my ears are bleeding and my skull’s splitting as I walk from lunch.

It can’t be denied that girls are obnoxious about this. They’re the cause of the aforementioned screaming. Pretty much every time someone touches them. Do you know how often that happens in a crowded high school? And when they stand in mobs that clog up half the hallway (don’t even get me started) they stand there and hail down others from the crowd like they’re trying to guide a 747 by voice alone. You know what? If your friend wants to talk to you, odds are, they’ll stop and come to you themselves. Chip of advice? Good friends are the ones you don’t have to flag down.

The golden child sports girls aren’t exempt. Well, not in my eyes. Just teachers, especially their coaches, let them get away with it more. Trust me, I know. I see it. I won’t mention names, but I sit behind one in class, who, pretty much never feels the need to raise her hand and wait her turn, no, she just calls out questions to both the teacher, and to her friend on the other side of the class. The teacher’s her coach, who rarely seems to mind. I’ve yet to see her reproached for it, besides being moved away from her friend.

Have to say, it hasn’t affected the situation much.

This is a thing that makes this already hard class even more difficult, because I get migraine headaches very easily. Odds are, the subject of the class already has my head spinning. Irritation with her, and quite simply, her voice, spark off a full scale migraine.

I’ll be lucky to pass the class for the year. And you wonder why I’m complaining.

And now, it’s time to shift our attention to the boys. Much, much less known for girly outbursts of screaming, but on occasion they can be the obnoxiously loud laughers. Most often, though, they are simply speaking their mind far too loud. They want the world to know. If one other person is listening, odds are, everyone within five yards will hear. Well… Guess what? In high school… No one cares. You want the world to hear you? That’s great. But please, become a politician, singer, writer, actor, or serial killer, because I am among the masses that don’t want to know your business, that just wants to get through the day. Have your eagerly listening cult, but leave me alone.

I know this is something the school can’t do much to control. In fact, I don’t want it to, because it often goes overboard. Splitting up tables in a classroom or making some strict detention laws. No, I don’t want that. So I’m imploring the students. Raising a voice to ask for a demonstration of common courtesy towards others. Please, keep the volume down.
