James Sullyven was standing on the doorstep of a foster care home. The welcome mat read- 'We foster because we care.' James hated that welcome mat. He hated that entire system. He looked around and rang the door bell barely touching it with his finger. The social worker next to him groaned and jammed her finger onto the button repeatedly, until a small boy opened up the door. "Y-yes?' He said softly. "Hey tommy, is Ms. Cortez in?" "No, but her brother is here, what do you need?" "I have a new foster child here for her." "Thats 5." The social worker nodded. the boy, or Tommy, waved ehr in with a smile to the boy. the small boy led the two to a large scary looking man, who smiled cheerily. "Hey, whats up Tommy..." He looked up to the social worker and smiled. "We've never met, I'm Vame, Shalean's older brother." He shook her hand and then he looked up. "Hey baby sis." "Vame, thanks for watching them for me. And whose this?" She asked delicately, smiling. She looked at the social worker and frowned deeply. "I told you I couldn't take another, Mr. Calluy." She said softly. "We are streached as it is with four!" "Shay, I know what you said but you signed a contract." "I know..." "Besides you are the only one i could find that might take him, he has no where to go after this. We've put him in 29 different homes in the last 4 months. None of them could take care of him, he's..." She looked down at the boy. "A lot like you were when you were his age, and it scares people. Please?" Shay looked down at the boy. She shook her head. The social worker dropped her head and gave her big sad looking eyes. "No, those won;'t work on me." "B-but shay... they are based off of your eyes..." The worker said, batting her eyelashes. Then the social worker sighed. "Fine, I guess you've lost your touch any way, you can';t handle this one, he's too... broken, we'll just have to put him in an asylum." "Check back in a week." Shay said immediately. The social worker nodded quickly and smiled. "when you die they are going to make you into a saint." "Yeah, if i don;'t take over the world first." She answered, signing papers as she spoke. then she sighed. The social worker walked to the door and the boy followed. "Listen James, my friend is amazing with children, I know she can help you. Most everyone here is older then you, about to move out, in a few months you'll be alone a lot of the time with her, she will never hurt you, she's nuts, but a good person." "So you say." The boy answered. It was no secret that one of his foster parents had been abusive towards him, after having abusive parents... He had finally felt happy and safe, it was a slap to the face. And the last foster home he had been in had been so afraid of him that tried to sacrifice him to save his mortal soul. "I promise. One she has decided she can protect you and save you, and help you, she will protect you even if it means she was to be hurt horribly." She ruffled the boys hair fondly and left. Shay went up to him. "Hi, I'm Shay." She said and knelt in front of him. he didn't look up. "Listen little one, I have to show you your new home. please take off your shoes." Obediently he slipped out of his sandals. He had a trash bag to his left and another on his shoulder. "Just leave your things here." She said and pointed to a small poster above the door. "Those are the house rules. 1. There will be no drug anything in this house hold. Drug jokes are fine, however there will be no drug use, no drug dealing and no drug talking about dealing or using. 2. Keep away from my dresser and closet, but the rest of your house is your to explore, but don;t go through other peoples things. 3. Conflicts do not need to be shrieked out. I am your mediator, and I will help you through anything, if you need to shriek, shriek, cry sob, what ever you need, just warn me first please. 4. Everyone gets a chore. just one. I scrub floors, and cook dinner and that sort of thing if I have time, but I will leave a note with a chore every day. things like please do the dishes, or take out trash! 5. I'm in charge unless I'm not here, in which case Vame, my brother or Carly are in charge. Thats all you really need to know. The only one I really get offended about you breaking is the drug rule." She led him into the living room. "This is our den Computers there." there was 2 computers. "T.V. and remote there." She pointed to the T.V. "We don't have cable because I don't approve. We have books became Vame is a librarian." she smiled and gestured for him to follow her into the kitchen.
"This is the kitchen, there's a lock on the fridge because I was having a party yesterday, and I am friends with a food klepto..." She shook her head. "And I lost the key, I'll break the lock later. Foods free, just don't eat more then you need, and don't not eat, I have a job, though I am having troubles we'll get through it. your lucky, we have oen more open room." She laughed. "So, I hope you like having a room to yourself." James blinked and stared at her, not quite understanding her words. "A... room... to my... self?" He asked. "Yes." She answered. "Why, whats wrong with that?" She asked. "Cause if you want to you can share a room with Tommy or someone." She blabbed out quickly. "I'd love having a room to my self." She smiled and led him up the stairs to the bathrooms and bedrooms. "My room, Tommies room, Carlies Rooms, Stashies room Andre's room, Vames room and your room." she pointed at each and said the names quickly. His room would be the closest to hers. "I rarely have guests.
