We sat for a while and he pulled off a black rose from one of the bushes. He gave it to me.
"Thank you," I said. I set the rose down beside me. "So...Are Lilith and you dating?"
"No. I like her, but I haven't made her my girlfriend," said Adin.
"Oh," I said.
"I like you too. Maybe more than Lilith," he said.
"Oh. I don't know what to say to that," I said.
"You don't have to say anything," Adin said. Then he leaned in...slowly. Of course, I was 12! I didn't have my first kiss yet! I was ready for anything though. Then he was so close that I could smell his breath. It smelled good.

And then he kissed me.

It was 3 seconds long before he pulled away and smiled. I was speechless. Then I heard a gasp. We both turned to look at the entrance to the prairie. Standing there was Lilith, her eyes reddish-gold and looking furious.
