Luckily for me, nothing did kill me. Something was there, though. It was Adin. He was holding my white dress.
"Here you go, Taylor," he handed me my dress. I noticed his eyes were a topaz color now instead of the black it was earlier.
"Thanks," I said, taking it. "I guess I'll put it in here. Be right back." I turned around and closed the door. I peeked through the keyhole. He was still there, waiting for me. I sighed and put the dress on the bed. When I opened the door again, he said he wanted to go for a walk. He asked me if I wanted to come along.
"Where's Lilith?" I asked.
"I don't know, but not here," replied Adin. I felt as if I could trust him.
"Sure, I'll come," I said.
"Good. Let's go," he said, walking out the room. I followed. We went up a long staircase and finally we reached the ground. He offered me his hand, and I took it. His hand was cold.
"You look a lot like Lilith," Adin finally said after a long silence.
"Well, of course I do. We are identical twins," I said.
"Lilith is beautiful. So are you," Adin said.
"Oh. Thanks," I replied, blushing. redface
The path we were following opened into a beautiful prairie, prettier than the one where the berries were. The perimeter had crimson and black roses and the middle had long prairie grass. It was soft. Near one end of the prarie, there was a bench made of wood.
"Come on. Let's sit," Adin led me to the wooden bench.
"Alright," I said.
I sat down. I realized we were still holding hands. I had no idea what was coming.
