Chapter 7 Part 4 Jailbreak
As soon as the last guards past us for the hourly guard change, we placed the key into the slot and opened our cell. I left two clones of me for the guards if they come by and had one stay in the shadows so it looked like Vayu. Soon we began to sneak around waiting for guards to past, hiding in the shadows, avoiding video cameras, the works. Every now and then we’d come across what seemed to be an non-passable point, but Vayu would have us go back to back then climb up the walls and wait for the guards to pass then continue on. Soon, we found a place to be and discuss the next part of the plan. First, we waited in a dark hallway and when guards came by we would snatched a few keys. After going through about a hundred or so keys we found some to the storage lockers of inmate’s possessions as well as their keys to the cuffs. Now, according to the information from my monitoring animals, the locker was always guarded and the guards change on the spot. What we needed now was a distraction and with these keys, we had many. Vayu went one way as I went the other and used the keys to unlock many prison cells and to wait for a large sound to escape. Soon, I met up with Vayu outside the hallway that led to the locker. Vayu then let out a large screech that was heard through the whole prison, follow by the sound of metal doors opening and rampage followed. The guards near the locker came to hear what the sound was and when they entered our hallway, we jump kicked both of them into each other knocking them out. We quickly dress each other with their uniforms and hid our hands so no one saw the cuffs. We dragged them to a corner and took their positions at the locker just as some other guards came in. “What was that racket?” asked one of the guards. “Some prisoners have escaped somehow and are causing a prison riot.” I responded. “How is that possible?” He exclaimed. “I don’t know, but we’ll guard the locker in till you get more back up.” I said. “Good idea.” They left without a second thought looking for other guards who were busily trying to calm the inmates. We took a key and open the locker to find literally a hallway of school lockers etched with prison numbers and some had names under them. We found ours and used the keys to free our hands and dress up. Vayu wore a dark red shirt and white pants with a green jacket with slits on his sleeves. Then I notice he had gauntlets around his arms. “Hey Vayu, what’s on your arms?” “They are to encase my wings so I can’t fly away.” “Ouch, does it hurt?” He was silent then said “I got use to it.” After I finish getting my stuff, Vayu kicked his locker. “What’s wrong?” “This.” He handed me a piece of paper. I looked at it and saw a letter to Vayu from…the Warden?
“Dear Prisoner, I have the key to your wings in my office. If you want it come get it you piece of filth. –The Warden” “Let’s go.” I said as I crumpled up the piece of paper. He nodded in agreement brandishing a pair of black claws attached to his human hands. We walked out of the locker and headed to the Warden’s office. Guards and inmates came charging at us, but we just beat them down then continue on our way. Soon we reached the hallway to the Warden and guards lined up and began to aim their guns. “Ready!” said one of the voices. “Do you want to take them?” I asked. “Aim!” “Sure why not.” He replied. “FIRE!” Shots came towards us, but I jumped up into the air as Vayu dodged them and decapitated the guns. “Anyone else?” He said. The guards quickly ran away and I jumped down next to him. “Guess not. May I?” I asked. He nodded. I kicked the door down. We entered with a chair turned away from us. “Well, let see here two prison inmates causing prison riots, stealing of prison property, impersonating security guards, entering the locker, possessing weapons, attacking guards, and breaking and entering.” He turned to face us. “Is there anything else to convince the higher-ups we need more security and have you be in lockdown permanently?” “Hmm, no, I think that pretty much covers it.” I said drowning in sarcasm. “Oops forgot one, being human.” He said with a snicker. Vayu was about to attack him, but I stopped him. “Let me murder him.” “Look.” I pointed to the wire connected to the Warden. “Clever. You manage to figure it out.” He pulled up the wire to reveal a box with a key and a small monitor wrapped with something inside. “You see, should this wire be cut or I die, the wire would sense a lack of pulse and cause the bomb to go off thus destroying the key.” Vayu was shock then growled at him. “I’ll kill you once that key is free.” “Nehehehe. Just try to open the box.” I look at the box and went for it when spear came towards me. “You have to also battle me while doing it.” I jumped back and whispered to Vayu, “Let me do the puzzle, you keep him busy.” “Fine, you literally hold our life in the box. Since yours is there too, I’ll trust you…for now.” “Good enough.” I dashed for the box when Vayu attack the Warden. “Tag teaming? Fine, but you have 10 minutes before my partners comes.” He said as he pressed a button. I started work while Vayu began keeping him at bay. The puzzle consisted of three puzzles, a 15 square, a magic square and a shape puzzle in the shape of a bird. There was also a clue: The answer to the bird lies under the magic square. The middle of the square is the 16th number. Once all three puzzles are solve. The key is yours. I began working on the 16 puzzle and found that the last number that was missing was 13. When the puzzle was solved 9 blocks appeared. I started with 13 in the center and used the remaining eight to make it equal not only horizontally and vertically, but diagonally too. When I finished, I had 3 minutes before his reinforcements arrive. Vayu manage to keep the Warden busy, but it was getting hard to keep him away without the wire snapping. I worked on the last puzzle a block puzzle to make it match the bird silhouette. I needed one last piece and as I place it in. The guards came by and the Warden laughed. “Too late.” He commented. “But I have the key.” I went to grab it, but saw that the key was also an igniter for the bomb. “Nehehehe. Good luck with that, but even still that key is to this chest with the real key.” He gave Vayu the chest. “Your freedom.” He laughed himself till he fell over, as did the guards while Vayu looked broken, I looked at the key and see if I could do something about it. There was one, but it was risky. I messed with it then went for the key. One shot, just one. But before I could, the Warden got backed up and grabbed Vayu. I turned to see he was going to a window. “Well since you’ve no hope, I won’t need to lock you up. You can just die freely.” He then threw him out the glass window. I knew what I had to do. Without hesitation I switched the key with another key and close the box. I then threw the box at the warden and jump after Vayu. “Nehehehe, stupid kid. Now to rid…of…this…box. !” The Warden saw that not only was he now handcuffed to the box with my handcuffs, but that the key to the cuffs were inside. “No then…YAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!” He broke and went mad and accidentally caused the wire to break. *** As I jumped out the window I dived for Vayu. “VAYU!” I yelled hoping he might hear me. He didn’t move. Then an explosion came from above us and Vayu snapped out of it to see that I had the key. He held out the chest and I quickly opened it to grab the other key. He then turn away from me and pointed to the lock on the back of his neck. I turned the key and the lock broke and his white wings unraveled and he got some resistance while I continue to fall. He flapped his wings and followed after me. I stuck my arms out and after I grabbed his talons on his legs he slung into a 180 and now we hung just a few miles above the ground. He descended slowly and we landed on the ground as slowly as could be and when we landed and looked up to see how far we had fallen we laughed at each other. I think it was to get over the fear we just experience. We stood up and before long the sun rose overhead as that long night ended. End of Chapter 7 To be continued in: Chapter 8: Kingdom of the Sky
