Yup, that's how I look at my Atlantic City weekend, which was originally planned to be three days but was cut one day short a week ago. Basically, this was my vacation:
Day 1
- Arrived at Bally's Casino and Resort and got my Total Rewards card + $25 Voucher...which I found out was ONLY usable on slot machines.
- Stumbled across a Roulette Machine (kinda like Video Poker) and used that to test out my wagering strategy of 3 Sixlines and 1 Corner arranged in a T-formation. Result: My $20 became a $50.
- All-you-can-eat-buffet at Caesar's. 'Nuff said.
- Not much luck for the rest of the day (or with the money my parents gave me to gamble with--I had much more luck with my own and more on that later), especially with my mom making $100 off of a lucky slot machine spin and my dad making a whopping $200 at the Roulette tables. (This was at Caesar's, by the way.)
- Stumbled across a certain lucky slot machine back in Bally's and turned a desperate $5 into $15.
Day 2
- Found out you actually have to pay an extra $10 just to access the pool area...which I have never heard of in other places (even Vegas). That meant I bought my Speedo for nothing. <.<
- Went back to the same slot machine from last night. $5 of that $15 became $25.
- Tried out one of the Penny Slots...which were total phail since not only did the $5 I blew on it go to nothing, but the maximum payout, if you went all-out, was only $900--that means with my "drawn-out-over-time" styled bets (akin to WWI Trench Warfare) wouldn't have even gotten me anything over a $9 gain.
- Returned to the lucky slot machine and used the last $5 of that $15 on it--ended up with $31.
- Lulz'd at my mom for losing the $100 she won the other day trying to win on other slots.
Of course, I should mention what this lucky slot machine is...or at least was at the time, but it doesn't help that 1) I can't remember the name of it and 2) Strict "No taking photos in the casino" policy doesn't help either, so here's what I do remember.
1) It has a name along the lines of "Colossal Jackpot" or "Colossal 7s"--something like that.
2) The way it works is that you have three normal reels with 10 pay lines. On top of that, there are two bonus, single pay line reels that determine how much your payout is multiplied (2x, 3x, 5x, 10x). This machine is playable in denominations of 5 cents, 10 cents, or 25 cents per credit.
3) What makes the high number of payouts possible, no matter how small, is the combination of 10 pay lines along with the 7s on the reels--unlike other slot machines, these have their 7s on each reel such that there are three 7s laid out in a tight column vertically. That means even if they don't exactly line up on pay line #1, you can have a good number of the nine 7s that do line up count as wins.
I didn't get the big Jackpot payout from it nor did anyone else, but three people played this one machine after me and won just as much as I did. Too bad my aunt and mom aren't very...um, "refined"--I insisted that just before we left for home, I show them this one slot machine that I was very lucky with--instead they were stupid enough to blow their last $5 on a quarter Slot that looked like one you were guaranteed to lose your money on...and that's exactly what happened.
If I can find the exact name of this slot machine, I'll let you all know. OwO
EDIT #1 (08/02/09, 7:57 PM): Found out exactly what kind of slot machine it was: The Colossal Jackpots 5RM, manufactured by WMS Gaming. OwO
