METROID
A NEW GENERATION Intro
Two years ago, a hunter named Samus Aaran killed DarkSamus. Since that day, my brother and I have prepared to destroy all humans, including Samus, for her resistance. Back then, all was in our sight. Dark Samus was our tool to command the Galaxy. But then we heard about a young hunter, Samus Aaran, only about fourteen and yet she had created him for us. She now wanted to destroy who she had created; we couldn’t have her doing that. So we sent him to overpower her. He failed, we sent him again, he failed, we sent him one more time, he died… I thought of him as a god, with how he could seem to live through anything. But now, he has murdered thousands, taken over planets, and armies, and has all the while kept his image of calm cruelty. We never really controlled him, though he would usually come to us for answers. The Metroids were once nearly extinct, and The Xtroid is only one. But the Hatchers brought their race back and migrated to us, now the Phazon we control is our greatest Ally. I am Sa-Chan, daughter of Gydranida (No…I’m not nearly half as ugly as her) and sister of Xtroid. My brother treats me like a princess…and I might as well be; I order the largest army in the universe, though I take orders from Xtroid. My brother is a fusion of a Metroid and a ParasiteX. He is very powerful and wise. Though he has no true mouth, he can control the body of others (Even when they are dead) to have them talk for him. I can trust his every judgment because he is my brother. Our mission was once to rule the Universe, we soon realized that it would be too much work, and set our sites to the Galaxy instead, now, all we want is our revenge on the human race for defying our judgment. Though I am in school my time is usually consumed by following my brother’ orders, which usually is spying on the Federation (usually we have field trips with them and it makes my job easier) to get their info. My brother always knows how to trick those Federation fools. When we found the living space pirates on the surface of our planet, they were searching for their own I guess. I lured them down to Xtroid and he took one of them to speak their language, he wouldn’t tell me what they were talking about, he says I’m too young. After that they joined us without question, though I highly doubt they hate us as much as they did DarkSamus. I’ve tried to get them to speak English, only a few have really picked it up. So we began our army with two and built it to Millions, I hope that’s enough to destroy Samus, knowing my brother, it will be. This is how we began our invasion. We sent out a ShadowPirate to take data from the Federation, to see where they thought we were. Turns out they knew. They would launch an attack in a month. We gave the order to man the Anti-Aircraft guns and be ready; our preparation began in a moment. Xtroid ensured we would be victorious! We had more men, better preparation, better weapons and it was our home-turf! No way could we lose! Right??? Well it might have been close if Phaaze hadn’t been on our side! The first shot wasn’t ours; it was a bomb of theirs! It took out at least twenty of our guys in one hit! Luckily, Phaaze wanted us to win. It looked as if a huge ocean of phazon had come out of nowhere to attack the Federation; turned out it was millions of Metroids, with Phazon like bodies, attacking at once. It didn’t look as if they had a choice but to surrender, they doubled back and the Metroids came to our surface again, each getting praise for their plan. They all seemed happy enough that we won… but then, I guess I couldn’t really tell… They weren’t really the emotional type of creature The SpacePirates were. I stay near the SpacePirates because of this fact. And now… this is how we’ll continue.
“We did it brother!!! We won!” I yelled as we all ran back to my brother’s chamber. “Good work Nee-Chan,” replied the SpacePirate that hovered in the middle of the room. “So…do you think Samus’ll die if we keep working on our army?” I asked with a smile and a nod. “Yes, we must keep fighting the foolish humans,” he replied triumphantly. I smiled again and turned to look at the SpacePirates; I nodded and walked out of the chamber, walking with the SpacePirates to a smaller chamber, where there were large cryotube containers full of young Metroids. I took one out of its container and held it gently. Before, the Metroids attacked anything that moved once you touched it, it wouldn’t get off. Now it only attacks as my brother says. I’ve got immunity to them. I held the young one in my arms for a long while, releasing the others to play in the open area. I watched and assisted the SpacePirates in their work and studies. When night fell I walked outside after replacing the Metroids in their cases. I looked around and thought I saw a blue figure in the distance, a trail of a blue substance following their path, I saw them crash nearby, I ran to see what’d happened. I was shocked to see Rundas in a crater, he was hurt badly and I went to get some help, the pirates and I brought Rundas to my brother. Xtroid took pity on him and revived him.
Ch1: The Phazon Princess and the Battle of Revenge
“And what do you have to say for yourself???” I asked Rundas as he came to. “What’d you mean?” he replied, holding his head in pain. “My sister here found you after you crashed on our planet, she brought you to me and I revived you,” My brother’s voice rang suddenly. “Oh, she did, did she?” he said looking at me through his visor-like pad. I stared at him emotionlessly,” I did, but not for your own sake, it was for the hope you would assist my brother and I in the destruction of human-kind.” He looked a bit confused by his posture,” Are you not human yourself?” “I am, but only partly,” I replied. “This is not a point to be discussed now,” my brother interrupted,” Rundas; you were once with our mother, Gydranida, were you not?” “As partner hunters, nothing more, though I can say the shape you’ve taken as a shifter is quite intimidating.” “It is no form, it is how I live and breath.” “My brother is the only Xtroid, a being of immense power. He is the creation of my mother and her late husband,” I explained. “Yes, but about the task at hand. I would like to know if you would like to accept our generous offer to assist us in taking revenge on the humans, and Samus of course,” My brother diverted us from such a topic as our mother. “Revenge on Samus for leaving me to die at the hands of DarkSamus? Just say the word and I’ll be your loyal fighter,” I knew he had a cold smile, though I had no real way to tell. “You can work with Sa-Chan and the SpacePirates until we launch our attack,” ordered my brother. “Isn’t there something I could do alone?” Rundas said spitefully. “Well, we were about to go and retrieve Ghor. But we have several people designated to the job already,” I replied. “I could do it better alone. Allow me my lord,” Rundas insisted. “Well, it’s up to my brother, but in my opinion you aren’t very trustworthy.” “Fine, Rundas will go alone, but there will be a tracker. One of our men will be in hot pursuit, just in case you try to get away from us,” my brother decided. “And don’t kill him, we want him to be our slave,” I added as he turned to walk. Rundas nodded and walked out to his ship. How lucky? I was the one to follow him and I did so, unfortunately, without true stealth. “So, he had you follow me?” Rundas said, controlling his ship as I stood behind the door. I opened the door and walked next to him,” He did, and I do not intend on leaving anytime soon.” “That’s alright with me, I guess. It’s not like he sent one of those pirates after me. You are much better company, I will admit,” He said, apparently mesmerized by the controls of his ship. “Well, I guess that’s a compliment. Thanks,” I replied shyly. “Something wrong? Your voice seems weak.” “N-no…I just get nervous without my brother around, that’s all.” “Well we’re almost there, you can watch; just don’t get in my way.” “Uh…ok.” We landed on the planet’s surface and we left his ship. I knew little about Ghor and so I had to let Rundas lead the way. I looked around for any sign of the hunter, but it was Ghor who saw us first. “Rundas? I didn’t expect you to be one to find a girlfriend,” remarked the robot, standing in front of us. I opened my mouth to speak, but Rundas beat me to the punch,” This woman is not my girlfriend; she is the sister of my new master. And she and I are here to extend an invitation for you to join us.” “Does the lady not have voice? Let her tell me,” Ghor protested. “Oh, well, my brother and I are looking for revenge on Samus, Rundas has agreed to help, my brother would prefer to give you a personal audience, but he is unable to leave our planet. So the two of us were sent to get you by my brother,” I explained. “Revenge on Samus? Count me in,” he said, placing a cold hand on my shoulder. I smiled and nodded, turning to Rundas for him to lead us back, he did and all three of us left for Taaze. Ghor and I conversed the whole way, he asked questions about our work with the SpacePirates and about our technology advancements, I told him what I knew, and he seemed satisfied with my answers. I couldn’t help but think that these two were up to something, but I had no proof, and so I was only there to assume. My brother seemed intent on Ghor as we arrived in his chamber, my brother wasn’t very happy with the fact that I had been caught. Though I could’ve done without the speech, Ghor helped, saying he probably would’ve resisted if Rundas hadn’t come with an innocent girl, I couldn’t tell whether to say thank you or glare at him for insulting me. I kept composure well and once my brother dismissed us, Ghor found me walking to the SpacePirate Facility. “Hello,” he said, walking up behind me. I turned to look at him,” Oh, hello Ghor,” I replied with a slight smile. “Where’re you headed?” “To the research facility. I need to help the Space Pirates.” “You help them? How amazing. One would think they would try to keep you out of their research.” “They are not sexist barbarians. And they know when they’ve met someone equal in brain power.” “So, what’re you all working on?” “Humanoid Metroids. It’s fascinating really. We’ve gotten one of the prototypes almost done.” “Would you mind if I come to take a look?” I shook my head and kept walking. As he followed me he asked questions about the humanoids. I answered as best I could and he looked at me as if I knew the entire universe by heart, the fact was I had memorized these things as the Pirates said them, I knew nothing about what it meant. And when we got to the Facility, he looked at the Pirates with a fascination even I had never known. I assisted when I was needed and he seemed to be watching me. I could tell he wanted to know more, why I didn’t know, but this wasn’t even close to complete, so he could steal or delete this whole data, and we could start again, and this time do it better, so I figured it was safe. Finally the Prototype was done, at about midnight that night, I was dead tired and Ghor was still running around, some of the Pirates had gone to sleep and so when the humanoid emerged, I was asleep in a corner, where a small bed had been made for me. Once out of its Cryotube, it looked and acted stable enough, but it wasn’t, at the sight of Ghor, he attacked, Ghor stunned it but didn’t kill it, lucky for us. So we tried again. I had just woken up at the sound of the humanoid’s awful roar. I stared at Ghor for a moment. Then stood and walked to him. “Thank you, for not destroying him,” I said sleepily, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Pay no mind to us, go back to sleep Sa-Chan. I swear, I would do nothing to this project of yours,” He said sincerely, ruffling my hair slightly. I smiled at him and shook my head,” No…I want to stay awake a little longer, and then I’ll go into my room and sleep. You should get some rest too, I don’t care if you’re a robot, you still need your rest,” I insisted. “Oh, alright, we’ll both stay up a little, we’ll go to bed at the same time,” He replied with obvious good intention. We did go to sleep at the same time, and in the morning, we were all awake early. “Hello Ghor, Rundas,” I smiled and skipped in the room. “What’s the little princess so happy about?!” Rundas pouted. Ghor walked over to me behind him;” The space pirates hit a HUGE breakthrough last night around midnight…it was fascinating!” “Figures you’d have already moved in on the poor girl, Ghor…” “He didn’t…He was hardly near me all night…he and I were both working as friends, unlike you,” I replied harshly. “Keep your emotions in line, all three of you!” rang my brother’s voice. “Yes brother,” I replied innocently. “Please forgive us all, Milord.” Ghor bowed, Rundas said nothing. “You are forgiven. Ghor, you and my sister have work to do for the Space pirate research, Sa-Chan…take him and go, Rundas will be staying here.” Xtroid replied, and Ghor and I set out. “So, what do we have to do Sa-Chan?” Ghor asked me. “Well, we got a transmission, from a planet on the other side of the galaxy, from Bryyo, there, a Space pirate had sent a transmission to us, it came last night, though it could’ve been sent a long while back… It said that he was being attacked, or the others said so, my brother seemed a bit nervous afterwards, he knows something, and so he’s sending us to find that lost Pirate, and bring him home, or kill whatever sent the message and killed him. You see, my brother is the most almighty being in the universe, but he can be killed under certain conditions, I’ve made sure to protect him from those conditions, while I have my own human side, I am merely vulnerable to heat and phazon weapons, my body signature is…untasteful, to the Metroids, and so they do not attack me, not many creatures do. Well, this could be something I’ve dreamt about for a while now, but my brother doesn’t know for sure, then again, this could be something MUCH worse then that.” I explained, reaching my small ship. Luckily it fit two, Ghor said nothing afterwards to reply to my sudden speech, I was sure he knew perfectly well that I was serious, just by how much had to be said. I also kept myself to silence, piloting the craft with him by my side, once we reached the planet, I landed on the fire side of the planet. We landed on the planet, it’s beautiful sunset lighting the sky in a blood red. We walked out of the ship as we landed gracefully. “Here it is, Bryyo. I hate the heat, but we have to find the way from here to Ice Bryyo…I can’t land there right away yet…too many ice crystals.” “I see, well, don’t worry, I’ll protect you here, but you’ll have to do the same for me in the ice.” “I understand, thank you Ghor…thank you very much.” “It’s my pleasure really, you seem like a kind girl, and very smart, you do seem slightly like your mother…sorry to say.” “It’s true though, I am like her, I hate her with all my heart and soul, but I…” I soon transformed, looking like my true form, a girls form, but no features or clothes, and a blue body,” This is me…the true me, how I was born, though I look a little different, now I’ve been corrupted by the Phazon…completely.” “How…amazing…no wonder you seem to have such a high power signature for such a young girl.” “Thank you Ghor…but, this is how my mother left me, alone, then my brother and I reunited, and I dragged Tallon4, Aether and Phaaze together, he fused them and we created out planet, Taaze, it’s much bigger then any other planet, and perfect for storing phazon and harnessing it’s powers,” we began to walk together into the fire pit,” It is also a perfect base to tell the universe to beware…we wish to find a few humans to serve us though, we want to revive their race by breeding them, like the Metroids.” Little did I know, we had a visitor, Samus Aaran was watching, and listening, she now knew. “ I see, that is so interesting, and, about Samus…your bout with her, what is the true cause for it?” “I hate her for one reason, and only one reason… She killed the one I loved… she killed Dark Samus.” That was when I realized Samus was following us, she gasped and both Ghor and I turned to see her staring at us, her helmet removed. “Samus!!!” We both exclaimed in surprise. “Y-you??? But…how can it be, YOU were the one he said he wanted to be protecting?!” She yelled, pointing at me,” But, you frequently come to our base…we knew you once worked with him and a mysterious benefactor…but…how is it possible that you came SO close to the one who was so evil he cared about nothing?!” “You know nothing about me…and nothing about him…he didn’t care about anything, only power, you’re also a liar…he never cared about me…or my brother.” “But, then why did he say that he ‘finally had someone to protect’, and that I couldn’t take her away?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about…or what you mean by that, but I don’t believe he said such a thing…” “Oh you don’t? Well I know you can have visions if you touch the person thinking it…here, see it like I did.” She took off the gun of her suit and held out her bare hand to me. I didn’t know what to do at first, I looked at Gore who seemed to smile and nodded at me,” You always cared about Dark Samus right, she took off her gun…she can’t mean too much harm if she’d do that, go ahead, know how Dark Samus cared, know what he said to her.” “Ghor…but…what if she’s right, what if he did say that? That’ll just make his death be so much more unbearable…my brother said he COULD be out there somewhere…but…if he was…he’d be here, with us, he would’ve come to us…and anyway…she knows I’m weak here, she could easily overtake me without the gun.” “Then let’s go to Ice Bryyo, I’ll show you there.” Samus said replacing her gun on her arm. “Well…I guess…alright, we are headed there.” Samus and I nodded, Ghor understood it as something we did, we all began the journey to the other side of the planet, fighting through countless monsters, Ghor and Samus did most of the work, and actually, through most of it, Ghor carried me on his back. When we reached the mountains, it was lava and ice mixed, I ran over the ice, the other two jumped over the lava, we reached the ice side in no time, then was the moment of truth, the end to the questions. Samus led Ghor and I to a secret place, it was a small crevice where no creatures seemed to be able to find, I looked around, feeling some kind of other presence, but found nothing of interest. “You ready? Samus asked me. I nodded shyly and she re-removed her gun, holding her hand out to me again, I took it shyly and she and I both closed our eyes and she began to show me.
There I was, standing on Phaaze, watching the two battle, phazon shooting both ways, the final showdown between Samus and her opposite, Dark Samus. Her whole suit was being damaged, you could nearly see half of her face through her cracked visor, blood all over her orange, yellow and red suit, and she was breathing heavily and seemed weak. Dark Samus on the other hand, didn’t look half as strong. His suit had been nearly completely ripped off, his blue glow giving his skin a blue tint. The gun on his arm was still attached amazingly, and his chest-plate was only half-there. His own red blood staining his short black hair and his pale skin, the phazon pulsating through both of their bodies. I stared up at Dark Samus, knowing that we were nearing the moment I dreaded to see, his death, and what Samus had told me… him saying he cared. I got a little lost in my thoughts of his death and hardly noticed the final shot until I heard DarkSamus’s dark, harsh voice cry in pain, and his glowing body fall to the ground, his own black Zero-suit torn and faded to a dark grey. “It’s over Dark Samus,” the hero’s voice didn’t hesitate to say as Samus walked over to DarkSamus, holding her gun to his head, leaving her own blood over the blue surface of planet Phaaze. “Never. I finally have someone to protect…and you can NEVER take her away from me now!” DarkSamus’s harsh voice yelled. “Her?!?!?! Wait, who her?!?!?” Samus asked in surprise. “I’ll never tell you what her name is, I’ll never let you kill the one I love!” He replied and took another shot at Samus, running to the side, looking around, obviously looking for someone coming to help. There he was too, my brother’s Echo, but, he did nothing, and Dark Samus just stared at him, looking for a sign that he would help, with an angry, evil look he shot the echo and made it disappear, looking back he saw Samus getting up and taking aim again, he jumped to the side, out of the way of her power shot. His breathing was also shallow and harsh, as if his lungs were damaged, though it was no such thing, he was normally kind of like that. He took his own shot at Samus, then, we saw it, the ship that I had come to Bryyo in, it was me, coming to find him dead…but he wasn’t dead yet, so how? Then I found out, I looked back at him and he was gone, his suit lay on the ground, fully repaired, seemingly he was dead, but he couldn’t have been… Samus never dealt a deathblow… no one had hit him again.
So that was the truth, he loved me and he was still alive, but where, how, why?! I didn’t know, I didn’t think I ever would, I saw Samus run and hide as I came out of my ship and ran over to see the battlefield full of blood, I screamed, seeing his dead body. My brother had acted like he didn’t know a thing…but he let Dark Samus die.
Samus and I awoke, I stared at her sadly. “ My brother…he-“ I didn’t get to finish, there was a shot in the middle of our small group, Samus and I let go of each other, being thrown back from the blast, the next thing I knew, I woke up a minute or two later, laying half-on Ghor, looking over at a pile of blue sludge. I sat up and then heard shots being fired, I looked up and there they were… Samus fighting someone in a black and blue power suit. I looked at the both of them a few times, to one and then the other, before my mouth dropped open to find him, the one I had just watch die in a vision, the one I missed so dearly, the one my brother had betrayed, the one, the only, Dark Samus. Ch2: Reunited or Alone “DARK SAMUS!!!” I screamed, tears forming in my eyes and I got up and ran over to the nearby site of the battle. My calling him didn’t phase him. It was like he was entranced by the attack on Samus, I was a little afraid that there was nothing I could do to get his attention. I kept calling him and begging for him to stop and telling him I didn’t want to lose him again, but he wouldn’t listen…he wouldn’t do anything but fight, Samus even tried to get through to him, but he just kept his battle going, I had no idea what he was doing, and the strange thing was, he wasn’t even using his echoes, I had no idea what to do, when Ghor woke up, he jumped into the battle with Samus by his side, trying to knock some sense into Dark Samus’s head. I tried saying everything, all except ‘I love you’ that is, I would never say that straight out to him. But, what could I do!? There was nothing I could think of!!! Absolutely nothing, he seemed so entranced by this battle, like all he wanted was revenge on Samus and didn’t care about anything else, absolutely anything else! It scared me a little bit, but I kept persisting, eventually I had just completely run out of ideas, I couldn’t join the fight because I couldn’t ever hurt Dark Samus, even if it had been me he was trying to kill. “Sa-Chan!!! You have to help us kill him!!! Please Sa-Chan!!!” Ghor pleaded to me, begging for me to do what I thought I couldn’t. I jumped into the air, activating the Omega-Metroid Suit the Space Pirates and I had built while Dark Samus was with us. But, then, when I began to get ready for the fight, Dark Samus faded away, nothing was left there but the phazon particles, then, it happened, the real Dark Samus came out of hiding, looking Samus in the face, I looked at him and landed on a nearby cliff, de-activating the suit and looking at him in disbelief. Then, all of a sudden, he landed and turned to me. “Sa-Chan…you’ve grown in these few years…it’s amazing, but, do you now work with Samus?!” he asked in his harsh voice. “No! Never! She snuck up on Ghor and I! Then she showed me…your death…or, what I once thought was, my brother…he betrayed you…didn’t he?” “He did, or, I thought he did, but, no, he didn’t. He had seen your ship coming already, and knew I wanted to leave soon anyway. He said, that, if you saw and thought that I was dead, it might be easier for you then for me to just leave, he was right though, no matter how much I wanted to deny it.” “Dark Samus… I-…I’m sorry…I let you down didn’t I? I was so weak, I’m still weak, I belong in the lab with the Space Pirates, like you used to say before you left…” I replied, tilting my head down a little, and sitting on the cold ground. “Actually no, I was the one who sent you that transmission, once your brother dropped me off here, I had no real way of getting back, actually…uh… I accidentally destroyed my ship on the ice crystals here and so I just needed someone to help me repair it, and I knew you could help me.” Tears fell down my face, but a smile slowly crept its was onto that sadness and I nodded,” I’ll fix it Dark Samus, for you, then, you can go, like you wanted.” “The only place I’m going, is back home, with you and Ghor.” He said, in the same tone, but his voice was human, no longer rough and dark. I looked up at him in shock, had he just said that, with a human voice?! Then it caught me, Samus and Ghor already looked like they’d die of shock, his helmet was off, completely off, his face didn’t glow or anything, there was nothing but that beautiful human face,” D-dark Samus?!” I asked, knowing it was him from seeing the battle, but, I had no idea he’d take off his helmet on purpose in front of so many people. “Yes? What is it Sa-Chan?” “Y-your helmet…why?!” “Well…I figured I owed it to you…after putting you through all that. You might just deserve to be able to get a look at my face.” “Well then, Ghor, let’s go and repair that ship now, and Samus, I suggest you leave before I change my mind and kill you right here and now.” Samus nodded and turned to walk away, but then Ghor put a hand on her shoulder and gave her a hug, I stared in disbelief, but as he let go of her and came walking with us, I didn’t bother to ask, I knew I didn’t need to know. There it was, the site of Rundas’ “death” there we saw the large ship, and there we met him again. DarkSamus had beat us there; we knew he would, so we got to work on his ship. Before sundown, it was done we had it fixed and ready to go, Dark Samus brought us back to my ship, and then, we went home. When my brother saw DarkSamus, he was actually happy. My brother was never happy, but, for once he was, and Dark Samus was home, but that wasn’t the end of anything, our experiments weren’t done yet, Samus was alive, we couldn’t allow that. It was time we left matters back to Dark Samus, but, Ghor and Dark Samus agreed to be partners, which was SO unlike either of them but whatever, and I agreed that I’d stay at home, to work with the space pirates; little did I know that Rundas had been watching us on Ice Bryyo. He knew about the little… affair that had gone on between me and Samus, though I doubt he knew about the vision, and he also knew about me and Dark Samus, I didn’t know what to do about it though. So I just ignored it once he told me, I didn’t know what he was getting at though, telling me he knew but wasn’t going to use it. In a few minutes after I finished resting, I found my way back into the lab, where Dark Samus was sitting, without his power suit, his black zero-suit shining in the dim light; I blushed lightly, having never seen it normally before. “Hello Dark Samus.” I bowed a little. “Hello Sa-Chan. I see you’ve gotten far on this project of yours.” “Yes, thanks to the pirates. He was nearly perfect when we activated him.” “Aah, but, the little moth thing, where did that project go?” “You mean Dreya?! Well, uh, she’s assisting us in a garden, she’s the protector.” “Oh, alright then.” “She’s been doing well, she remembers you, and she’s called you her father a few times.” I smiled, releasing the Metroids again and holding the same baby one, but, Dark Samus noticed something about the one I held in my arms. “It has a tag…” he said, taking a closer look at the Metroid. “Yea, this one will never be released; it’s my friend, my pet.” “What?! One actually took a liking to you?!” “I was surprised too, but, this little guy just wouldn’t leave me alone once he saw me, and so, he wouldn’t let anyone else put him back in the cryotube but me, he made a huge mess when I left, and so I have to calm him down all the time, it’s like he’s my own little brother.” I could’ve sworn I saw Dark Samus smiling. “How…cute.” He said, seeming at least a little disgusted. “I’m sorry, he’s a good friend though, he’s gotten really powerful for a normal Metroid.” “Then why isn’t he Alpha yet?” “He’s been asking, but, I don’t want him to be just yet.” “Why not?! Being an Alpha, and even maybe a hunter, it’ll make him so much stronger.” “Hm, yea, but, I like my little friend the way he is, if he transforms, he could loose his personality, and his shape, there’s nothing I could do but risk loosing him… and I don’t want that.” “Oh, alright then, how sad.” “I’m sorry, it might not make much sense to you, but, it makes all the sense in the world to me, this little one is my friend, he’s also really the only one I had when you were gone, he’s strong the way he is and I love him this way, he’ll become what he wants when he’s good and ready, while I don’t want him to transform and leave me, I can handle it, for him, like I did when you were gone, I sucked in my gut and decided to stop moping and get revenge on Samus, helping my brother by taking your place at his side, even now I know I have to let my thirst for revenge be only second on my list, now I have to stay here like I used to.” “Wow, you did all that? Hm, maybe emotions aren’t as useless as I thought, if they can cause a person like you to do all that.” “Yea, I know, isn’t it weird? Love, such a corrupting and weak emotion, bringing me to get over my sorrow and fear and do what’s right for my brother.” “It is strange, but, then again, maybe that corrupting and weak emotion is what kept me alive when faced by death in that battle with Samus.” I blushed, not knowing what to say, I looked down and stayed silent. I soon looked out the window onto the blue, dirt covered surface of what was once Phaaze, now, being three planets fused together, becoming Taaze. Dark Samus did the same, I glanced at him and he seemed just as mesmerized as I had once been, he had never known this place, or our people, when he had first met the Skeith, he ignored them, we got them a new leader, a man named, Zero. Three months later, Zero died mysteriously after facing Samus, I blamed Samus for his death, but I was, once again, only there to assume. Soon, it became dark, and I turned to put the baby Metroid back into his cryotube, but DarkSamus grabbed my wrist and shook his head. “Why not let him sleep in your bed with you tonight?” he asked me, gesturing to the Metroid still in my arms. “Wh-what? But… my brother doesn’t approve of that, he doesn’t want me getting too attached to this Metroid, in case he does evolve to the next lever and forgets, or if Samus kills him like she did you and Zero,” I replied sadly. “I see, wait, who’s Zero?!” “Well, you wouldn’t lead the Skeith, so after you left, my brother found Zero wandering our planet, he was from my school, a friend, but, three months after we got him to help us, he mysteriously died after facing Samus, we all blame her for his death.” “Oh, I see, I’m so sorry.” “It’s fine…really; he was kind and a good friend.” “I see, but, that only makes the pain worse, right? It must be awful to loose so many people in your life… I’m…sorry Sa-Chan.” I smiled, him seemingly so caring, but, I couldn’t help it, his face, his smile, it was all so much, after so long he was back, he was really alive, and I wasn’t dreaming, he was really home. He looked at me with a smile before waving me off to bed, I nodded and took the Metroid to my room for the night like DarkSamus had suggested. I tucked in the little Metroid and laid down myself. Then, both of us fell asleep. In the morning, we both woke up and I brought him down to my brother’s chamber happily. I skipped down the hall when I heard that familiar, cybernetic-like voice. “Well, don’t you look cheerful?!” Ghor said happily, walking up next to me,” Sleep well?” “Never slept better actually, I’m glad DarkSamus convinced me to use this little guy as a teddy bear!” I said, hugging the Metroid close. “Well, how cute, come on, I just saw Rundas walk in a few minutes ago, I wonder if he ever sleeps, I had to get some energy first.” I giggled and nodded, walking alongside Ghor into my brother’s chamber, seeing Rundas and DarkSamus already there. “Sa-Chan!!!” My brother was about to begin the scolding of bringing the Metroid out of the research rooms. “Y-yes brother???” I asked, frightened. “WHY IS THAT METROID IN MY CHAMBER AND NOT IN ITS CRYOTUBE WHERE IT BELONGS?!?!?!” he screamed at me. “W-w…I-I…and, but…he…” I stammered, looking for the right words in my fear. “Actually, Xtroid, it was my idea, she seemed so fond of that Metroid so I thought she’d be better off with it always being by her side…with the time she has with it.” DarkSamus cut in. “Aah, I see then, you do realize that I was trying to protect her from the same pain you put her through…hasn’t my sister suffered enough on the account of two hunters I happen to know?!” Xtroid replied very harshly and cruelly. “Yes, she has, which is why I shall be there to protect her and that Metroid at all hours of the day, and night.” “WHAT?!?!?! Who allowed this sudden change?!?!?!” “I did, and you’ll never be able to say anything about it, because I don’t really feel like letting you tell me I can’t be with her if I want… because you might be her so called “brother,” but you aren’t even really related to her, she has protected you and stayed by you when no one else would. SHE was the one to tend to your wounds when someone came in here, and SHE was the one to convince all these men to stay with you, sure, Rundas might stay with you, but, if she left you now, so would almost every man in your army, even all the women would leave, if Gydranida came back and claimed her daughter, you wouldn’t fight her, but the rest of us would, Rundas doesn’t care about anyone but himself, and so he’ll stay by the one that’s more powerful, which would seem to be you, but that’s not true.” DarkSamus growled. “D-DarkSamus???” I asked in a weak and astonished voice, everyone in the room looked taken aback, except my little Metroid. That little thing wiggled out of my arms and went over, next to DarkSamus and began getting ready to fight Xtroid if need be. “Relax little one, there’s no need to do anything rash now, I don’t think we need a fight right now, go back.” DarkSamus said to the Metroid. It nodded, floating it’s way back to my open arms, I walked to DarkSamus and smiled at him,” Actually, Ghor almost said that exact same thing to me, that if I wanted, I could leave and be on my own, and all these people would follow me against my brother, but, what you both don’t know is that, I’ve always known that, and, if I wanted to leave, well, I would’ve already. I love my brother more then anything, and I want him to be safe and successful, then, I want to protect him for the rest of my life if I live to see our dream in action. Actually, I’ve not only heard that from the two of you, actually, when my Wave Suit was finished, a good SpacePirate friend of mine told me that he, and all the other Pirates and Skeith, were on my side, and he was sure the Metroids were too, so, all my life, the people of this mission have told me I’m special, but I don’t want to be special, I want to be me, the little one who protects the greatest thing in the universe, whether I’m scared or not doesn’t matter to me, I love my brother and that’s that.” “W-Wow…I-I never thought of it that way, I never thought of that period, I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk like that!” DarkSamus replied. “Yea, I’ve had to give long speeches a lot lately, to Ghor mostly, and now you and my brother, I have a lot more to say really, but I don’t think the time is right yet, it’ll be a while longer before I can really say what’s on my mind,” I explained. “Hm, well then, I guess you really have changed a lot Sa-Chan,” my brother pointed out. “You’ve changed a whole lot, and I’ve never been prouder of anything in my life,” Ghor said in a gently manner. “Ghor, you’re really right, about all of that, Sa-Chan has made us all proud, and I bet her father would be proud too.” DarkSamus smiled down at me. I smiled weakly, thinking of my father always made me happy and sad at the same time, he had died early on in my childhood and I didn’t remember him, but I knew he was kind. So, in my mind, I thanked DarkSamus for saying that. We continued talking, but in the middle of the meeting I walked out of the room, no one tried to stop me, I knew they wouldn’t, so I just walked out of the base, out to the planets surface. I looked around and then went and sat in the spot where Zero and I had talked a while ago, looking around and I laid down and closed my eyes.
Ch3: A New Friend In a few moment I opened my eyes to see this planet again, but, it was like it used to be, perfect in every way. I looked up and I saw myself, standing over me, talking to someone, I looked to see who, and, what I saw brought tears to my eyes. “Sa-chan! It’s not safe for you here! Please Sa-chan…I know you miss DarkSamus and that you love your brother, but, please, you have to go, go to somewhere far away from here, I have friends in the federation that’ll find you somewhere to live that’s safe.” said the young boy that was standing right in front of me, holding my hand up to his chest. “B-but…I can’t leave my brother! He needs me and I’ll never leave him like this!” My younger self said, this was only one or two years ago, but I looked so much younger. The boy took my face in his hands roughly, but it didn’t hurt, he looked me in the eyes,” Please, Sa-Chan, I don’t want to loose you! You’re not just my friend anymore, you’re more then that to me, because…Sa-Chan I love you.” He said quietly. “I-…I love you too…Zero.” My younger self looked back at him in his silver-ish blue eyes. Since that day, my eyes hadn’t dried, I saw that at that moment, seeing my past self, kissing Zero, crying my poor heart out, not knowing what I wanted anymore, but, now I knew, now I knew that I really did love Zero back. I also remembered school that day for a minute, he and I always had the same classes, but that day, he wouldn’t stay away from me, I knew he had known everything about how my brother wanted me gone, it was all ok now, but, Zero was dead now because of me, and I’d like to kill myself for it, my backpack had zipped open too, so all my papers were flying everywhere in the ominous wind on the planet.
Then, I woke up, hearing my name being called. I stood slowly, hearing my name being called loudly by many people, but, I wouldn’t go back to my brother for now, I stumbled toward my ship, looking out for anyone who might be nearby I never found anyone but myself and my memories, but then again, even that scared me, though. I saw my ship then, but, no one was there but that baby Metroid, I went and grabbed it, making it hush, It cuddled into my breasts and I walked into my ship, knowing no one would be in it or my little friend would’ve warned me, and as I suspected, I left without a hitch, I went all the way to the Federation, the only place I knew I could go. When I arrived the welcome was less then welcome, I had my head and arms laying down on the controls, no one could see my face for it hiding in long sleeves. Then, the video communicator turned on. “Sa-Chan?!” I heard Samus’s voice san and nodded into my arms,” What in the world are you doing here, and doing here alone?!” I raised my head slowly to show her a tearstained face,” I don’t honestly know anymore Samus…but please, would you just talk to me about something for a moment?” “Sure hun, come on in,” Samus opened the Landing Bay doors and my ship went in, I got out and nearly fell to the ground, being caught by none other then Samus Aaran herself. “Sa-Chan, what’s happened? You look terrible! Come on dear, we’ll go to my room for some tea, ok?” I nodded and she helped me walk to her small quarters in the large Federation mothership. I was sat down on her bed and she ordered some tea,” So, Sa-Chan, what is it that you wanted to talk about?” “Not what…who…his name was Zero, you know him.” “ZERO?! Oh that poor kid, I don’t even know what came over him, he just, suddenly appeared out of nowhere and attacked me like he hated me for something.” “Well, actually, he was doing it on my brother, Xtroid’s orders, and his hatred for you was real, you see, he fell in love with me and I was so obsessed with Dark Samus’s death, he thought he had to kill you like I wanted to make me see that he truly loved me…I know this, because, two days before he attacked you, he came to me and confessed his love, the rest I could piece together myself, and…he kissed me.” “What?! You can’t be serious! H-he really did turn evil, damn those things!!!” “What things?” “The Ing, we flew all the way to Aether with our battle, and, there the Ings killed him,” She had took off her helmet again, and I could see the tears in her eyes at the thought of Zero’s death. My eyes filled with tears and I started crying within seconds, I was about 18 now, a fully grown woman, and Zero never got to see that…I felt horrible, more horrible, even, then when dark Samus had “died” maybe…because I knew he loved me and he’d never see me again. Samus smiled a little, getting up and sitting next to me, holding me in comfort, I guess she really didn’t know what to say yet, but it dawned on her to tell me something I had never known before. “Hun, I know exactly what you’re going through, when I lost Adam…well, my bent up depression didn’t keep away from my eyes for too long, I cried hours into the early morning and didn’t get ANY sleep that night, but the point was, no one saw me cry, no one else knew the true pain of my lover’s death. Sa-Chan, what I’m trying to say is, you have two choices, you can cry forever and not know anything else for the rest of your life, go somewhere you feel at home and cry until you’re dead, or, you can pick yourself up and not show anyone else that you’re vulnerable and scared.” Then, a woman walked in with our tea,” You know Sammy, She has the power to change her world, you just have the power to encourage her to do it.” “What?! Hey, I know who you really are…no one calls me Sammy but…” Then, she showed her true form, An old woman now, the Pink body and hair nearly glowing, my hatred for her burned even brighter then my hatred of Samus, my mother, Gydranida. “Hello honey, glad to see me?” She said to me. “Not on your life you traitor!” I yelled, giving her a death-glare. I was cold towards her and I would never admit that I did miss her, and my hatred died a little bit in a few minutes of dead silence, then, I did what I never thought I would. I gave in, and hugged my mother, with tears in my eyes. I knew nothing but my mother’s embrace. I had honestly forgotten that Samus was there, but all soon came back and I let go of my mother sadly. Remembering the day she left, the pain I still knew.
