If you can't already tell by the Interests listed in my profile, I like a wide variety of things. Things. Aren't they fun? The most important things are the ones you can't buy... of course we should all know that by now. But all the things you can buy, let's just say they can be pretty nifty at times. Take shoes for example. Or the large amounts of clothes in my closets. I know they’re not the most important things in my life, but maybe if I had something more interesting to do (like working towards peace and stabilization of third world countries) I wouldn't care so much about them. So my parents need to seriously stop bugging me to chuck half my shoes/clothes. Seriously.
That wasn't really the point of this entry though.
The point of this entry is for me to gripe about people griping about things they don't know very much about. Rap music for example. So many people go on and on about how much they hate rap, but there's actually some very good rap out there. Even the rap that has not-so-moral messages can be fun to dance to. It's not like rock has been any less immoral over the years anyway. I haven't found a genre of music I can't stand. In fact, I rarely find anything I can't stand. (Badly played musical saw can really make me cringe though.)
Whenever someone insults something, I feel the need to defend it. I feel like I'm always defending rap music, fashion magazines, youth culture, partying, dancing, anime, Harry Potter, MTV, the U.S., the Middle East, the rich, the poor, liberalism, idealism, and so much more. I don't see why everything is so black and white for some people. Me, I take things for what they are. There's good rap and bad rap. Stupid shows on MTV and good shows on MTV. Up and downs to partying depending on the type of party being attended. Not everyone who's poor is lazy. Not everyone who's rich is heartless. All "jocks" aren't jerks. Some "nerds" can party pretty hard.
Stereotypes are everywhere I go, and they're slowly destroying all the progress humans have made in the past thousands of years we've been evolving further away from our dear, hairy ancestors.
In my opinion, we need another Renaissance period. A worldwide Renaissance, that involves every continent on planet earth getting together and having a huge shift in understanding of human behaviors and the importance of working together beyond ethnic or cultural divides. I suppose this happens to some extent, globalization taking effect and all, but it hasn't really happened on the scale I want it too. A great dream of mine is to become a leader and innovator in a new Renaissance of understanding. We'll dig up old philosophies and make new ones. Push for scientific discovery, education, innovation...
Yeah, yeah... I'm dreaming in Geekland again. But hey, "When people stop speaking about their dreams, they cease to evolve as human beings." Man that quote fit in perfectly with this. I didn't even realize how perfectly it fit until I typed it. Thank you, Hiromu Arakawa-sensei, for being such a genius.
I should stop now shouldn't I?
P.S. I read my last journal entry from... forever ago and a year, and man! I was still having some major security issues. Haha... I laughed at myself. *hits self* Stop being mean to me, me!
