May everyone stay safe and have fun!
On this day, I have to remember my Aunt. When I was sixteen my family moved from Redwood City, CA back home to here, right outside N.O., LA to be with my Aunt whom was battling cancer. It was hard to watch her suffer through the chemo, and even the radiation. Christmas was her favorite time of year. Before we hd moved to CA, we spent every Christmas Eve at her house, decorating the biggest tree she could fit into her house, only for her to cover it with so much tinsel that you could bearly make out the ornaments! ANd she'd always let us kids open one present early. The first holiday season that came to pass after we moved home found me in the kitchen baking cookies on Christmas Eve as usual. That's when we got the call that she was calling for everyone. By the time we got to her house and up the stairs, she was taking her last breathe. I guiltily remember not wanting to leave my baking, niavely believing in another day. May she rest in peace and her spirit live on.
