It's 32 freezing degrees outside.
And my heat isn't working properly.
A couple days after we'd turned it on for the first time this season, I kept hearing a slight hissing coming out of one of the registers. Then I kept playing with the thermostat, thinking I'd set it wrong (it's one of those things were you can set it to automatically adjust to different temps at different days & times, in an attempt to save energy ~ since we have 2 cats, I like to keep the temp at a constant 68-71). So, the other night, I grabbed the manual & did what it said so that it would be at a constant 72. It keeps saying the heat is on, but it says it's only 62 in here. And it certainly feels it ~ my hands are freeeeezing!!! One of the registers feel real warm, & lucky for my cat, that's always been "his" spot 4laugh Some of the regs are slightly warm; some of them feel like the outside of the fridge.
So, yesterday, I explained all this to one of my older co-workers, & he explained that we have steam heat & that it must be leaking if there's a hissing noise, This is the reason why the heat isn't working. Something must've busted a hole or something might have come loose. So, we have to call our retard landlord & tell him to fix it. (We refer to him as "Jim the Toolman Dumbass". stare ~ We had an ice jam in the kitchen that he didn't want to do anything about because "it's just an ice jam". However, said ice jam was causing water to leak into a light fixture and, from what I know, water+electricity=fire!! But I'm still just a kid, what do I know?!? super- stare )
And, another doodie thing that happened today ~ we're on a budget plan with our heat & electric bill. Apparently, once a year, they evaluate your charges & bill you for anything extra. (Which doesn't make any sense to me~ I'd think they'd just average it out over the following year, but, again, what do I know?!) So, our bill is usually about 170$ a month... This month, thanks to the evaluation, the bill is a bit over 400$. Bye bye XMas money! Bye bye friend's wedding gift! Bye bye 10$ Gaia cash card (aka~ treating myself for a change)! Bye bye trying to save ANY money!

And now football is on...
Well, how am I trying to keep my buns warm?? Keeping doors closed, lighting candles, using the oven whenever possible, fleece clothing & blankets, sitting with my laptop on my lap, cuddling wit kitties, & cuddling with sweetie... That's about all I can think of so far...
*teeth chatter*
Update: I managed to get the living room up to 67 degrees!!! xd
