They live among us, but we do not realize... They act and look as humans, and we fall into their hypnotic disguise... These are the creatures, damned to eternity... Damned to their own living Hell... These are the Vampires that walk among us.
Cory, a seventeen-year old boy with insane fantasies about Vampires, demons and other so-called underwordly and mythical creatures, lay on the roof top of his home. His parents place wasn't huge, but it wasn't small either. The dark brown shingles were comforting to him and the soft whisper in his mind was calming. A light whip of wind came through the trees, carrying a sweet scent with it. Cory sat up, 'It's too early for Mom to be home...' he thought and looked around franticly for any sign of other people when the sweet scent went past again. "Cory!" A man's voice yelled. "I'm on the roof pops!" Cory yelled back. Then as he inhailed the perfume, he looked towards the direction the scent was coming from. "The harbor..." he said to himself.
As Cory drove down to the harbor, his mind raced with possibilities of what the scent could be, then it struck him suddenly. No human could smell something from a mile, much less five. The wind had carried it, but still, he pulled over to the side of the road, hitting his head on the steering wheel, "I'm insane," he muttered. "completely insane..." He took his head and propped it up on the steering wheel, he could walk to the harbor from here. Instead, he pressed the gas pedal slowly, creeping along the street. 'I could smell that...' he thought, coming to the familiar 'Ever blinking' light. He and his friends gave it that name through one of the power outages. Through the entire ourage, the light was the only thing that was on. Cory chuckled to himself as he came to a stop near the harbor. "Maybe I'm delusional with smells.." he said to himself . He opened his door halfway when he smelled the sweet scent again. This time, the scent was stronger. He got out of his truck and closed the door, looking around. He cursed to himself and walked down towards the fishing boat that his parents owned. As he walked down the dock, he noticed a girl about his own age and smiled to himself. "Hello." he said and waited for an answer. The girl said nothing. Cory took notice of her snowy white skin. "Probably a mime..." he muttered. "I'm not a mime." she shot at him, keeping her gaze fixed on the water. "And so she talks." he teased, starting to untie the boat. "I wouldn't go out in a boat right now, if I were you." she warned, her voice gentle but sharp. "And why would that be?" he asked, changing his tone. "There's a colossal storm approaching." "Then why are you here? You don't appear to be fishing or even doing anything for that matter." "I'm waiting." "For what?" "What are you?! Twenty questions!?" she asked in a mocking voice. "Naturally." he replied happily. He stared at the girl curiously. "Why are you staring at me?" she asked. "No reason in particular..." he mumbled, tying the the boat back up. His finger slipped on the edge and blood was quickly drawn. The girl twinged slightly and fidgeted. "Damn." she muttered. In one fluid movement, she was standing and looking back at Cory, a small strained smile across her lips. Cory stared at the girl again. He mostly kept his stare at her face, caught in her teal eyes. Teal. Red? he asked himself then shook his head. The wind picked up again and the sweet smell flew into his face again. "Your the one who..." he started, then drifted off as she silenced him. "No need for you to assume that much, we still need you." she said. "More or less, I need you." The girl moved swiftly and walked back towards the road. Cory stood still, pondering on what she'd said. "Do you need a..." He started, then questioned himself. As he turned around, he noticed the girl was gone. He looked to both sides, then let out a long sigh. She was gone.
