I write your name upon the surface Fast fading, leaving only the ripples of the moment past Deep breathing, shallow memories The time your feelings hadn't yet slipped away. The warmth of your body pressed against mine And our lips singing their secret duet You speak to me now, so softly that only I can hear. You whisper of the night; of another day I greet each new second with you... Alone. Moonlight falls upon the ocean Deepest thoughts, shameless feelings. My face reflected on the black water Such solem eyes... Where has my laughter gone? Have you taken my happiness? Have you taken my hope? Have you taken my confidence? The echo of an answer confirms it in the tides. ...But there is one thing I keep for always... Twirling, the smooth liquid encircling my legs. Skimming my fingers on the top The water, risen, spinning with me A cascade of beauty around something so hideous and tainted Willingly contained in the shroud of innocence. Falling down... I'm well in over my head Surrounded by this clean feeling, I wonder. How dirty is my soul? Emerge from the course of purity Yet I have long left it behind. I'm so damaged... Shattered... Broken... Have you destroyed everything that I once was? But stumbling out, I smile. So bittersweet... Because there is one thing you'll never be able to steal ...I love you deeper than anything a sea of saddness can wash away. I drift back, collapse... I float with the flow of the waves. I let go of the logic that keeps my believing in tomorrow.
Then I stare up at the stars and see you in them.
