Literal Lyrial
She's anything but.
whatever she says,
you learn not to trust.
If she says she's happy,
lies twist in her gut,
her emotions concealed
her thoughts, who knows what.
Literal Lyrial
once had a best friend.
Her name was Muriel
till her untimely end.
Muriel and Lyrial
had gone for a stroll.
They'd been neighbors for life,
and for wandering was a scold.
But in the shadows
lurked the gallows
and over to them they ran.
Muriel loved to cause a fright
by playing the criminal man.
Lyrial and Muriel,
as most teenagers do,
thought themselves as immortal,
no exceptions for fear ever grew.
But as they strayed for far too long,
and Lyrial's mother did shout,
only Lyrial ran away
to successfully get out.
The pit had been sprung,
the clocks had then rung,
it was time to say good-bye.
And as Lyrial turned
to wave she learned
that then Muriel had died.
And to this day,
Muriel does lay
in the pit of the gallows and waits
for Lyrial to save the day,
her punishment for testing fate.
Only Lyrial knows the tale of
how Muriel died.
And those who have found,
pray, don't turn around,
For Lyrial you may find.

- It's an interesting story, and the rhyme scheme is good, but as a poet I generally tend to warn against sacrificing meter for rhyme. 4/5 stars.
