-
There he is again.
Standing down the road.
You can almost make out his carnivorous smile.
You can almost see his preying eyes.
Standing on the side of the road.
I was the last to see him.
Right before he turned into a cottage down the road.
Silence.
Before I heard it.
The ear splitting scream.
Filled with terror more than I can imagine.
Before it stopped.
Silence.
The air was filled with deafening silence.
All I could hear was my heart's beat.
I should have called the police then.
But I was scared.
That the stranger will come to me.
Come and haunt my very being.
More than my nightmares would allow.
I was there to see him.
As he left the cottage.
Seemingly pleased with himself.
Or what he had done.
And when he steps into the light post's glimmer.
I can make out a shining silver colored knife.
Dripping with...I hope water.
I wish to God that it was water.
And not what the police had told my parents.
But what I saw was blood.
Moist sticky blood.
Enough to start a small puddle.
I reach for the phone.
And dial those three savior numbers.
But before I can answer what my emergency is.
My vision is changed.
He...he's here.
Somewhere, I feel it.
A cold chill that is striking at my spine.
And there he is.
In front of me.
Just standing there as I wait.
Holding my phone limply in my hand.
You can make out that carnivorous smile.
You can see the glint in his preying eyes.
And as he neared me.
I was last the see him.
He was the last I saw.
The stranger.
Down the road.
