I wear a mask and hidden are my thoughts
My emotions and feelings forever scared
But on my mask is plastered a smile
For others to see but not for me
My emotions are secret, away from all
No one has yet seen me, myself true
All they see is the mask I wear
To please instead of scare
My mask removed, they would all run
They would not see me true
I wear a mask with a plastered smile
But inside I am shattered glass
Once beautiful, clear
Now sharp and dangerous
Yet vulnerable and chipped
I yearn for the light
For someone to see through shattered pieces
Through my mask and web of lies
I yearn for true understanding
Yet I am not found, but someday
Someday soon, I will let the mask fall
I will repair my shattered glass
And begin anew
Without that mask and plastered smile
