    Today you are not with us
    Because you’re always gone

    The snow has settled upon me
    As rain does in the spring
    They urge me to start playing
    This song I don’t want to sing

    For the numbness has finally found me
    It has me in its arms
    Out of mercy, maybe, or boredom
    It disables all the alarms

    The darkness is now free to come
    And consume me undisturbed
    For the alarms won’t sound when they arrive
    So I won’t know when I’m perturbed

    When I eventually slip into the shadows
    I won’t feel the panic and pain
    Of trying to fight off the darkness
    As snow would try to be rain
