• I’ll smile for you

When you promise me love for life, forever,
I know you mean longer than for today.
I know we’ll survive any endeavor,
Though it could be too soon to say

Sometimes I smile, teeth tied together,
I’m painfully forced to fake upon my face.
I see your thoughts lie with Her, another.
And in my fraudulent silence, I know my place.

Her curtains of chocolate silk hair,
The lovely Girl with dark almond eyes.
I often catch your eyes linger there,
Over Her exposed body, Her long skinny thighs.

I’ll never hate you for this, for anything, like you claim God may.
You’re the master, defender and keeper of my heart.
Your love I devour and never question. I know forever you’ll stay.
Going on in life without you, my world would fall apart.

So though it hurts when you say ‘God knows, She’s perfect for me’
I’ll always give you my love. I’ll smile, for show, for you to see.
Just promise me the dark day will never come, when you say ‘Please don’t cry…’
When I’ll stare broken into your blue eyes knowing forever was a lie.
