Dead deer on the side of the road
Road kill from a yesterday ago
Looking out for the eroding freeway
What’s with all the sad songs these days?
Why not turn a happy tune
For those that have yet to know what it can do
Our grievances paid by seemingly unheard prayers
Dead deer on the side of the road
Road kill from a yesterday ago
Keep looking out to the horizon
Leaving endless hope of sun arising
A-gain
What’s with all the sad sad songs we’re sing’n these days
Why not turn that happy tune
For those that have yet known
What it could do
I understand the feeling of dashed hopes
Scattered across the floor
Like broken glass
Lets pick up the pieces and
Even can’t be repaired why we start it anew
Dared to turn those happy tunes
For us that have yet known
What should it do?
Dead deer on the side of the road
Road kill from a yesterday ago
My mind’s eye sees the dawn’n of time
Feelings drag me back to the present
Pressing for solutions of how to dilute this
What’s with the thick soup of singing sad songs?
Why don’t we turn those happy tunes?
For those out there that have yet known
Why it moved us so.

- I definitely like 'a yesterday ago'. The rhymes are well done, and seem natural. The 'lets' in the third stanza should be 'let's', and the line "Even can’t be repaired why we start it anew" is confusing and might be missing a word. Overall though, it's really good.
