A thursday's eve I rose from bed
I felt a need to use the restroom.
As I walked in, I saw a flash of red, and paused.
I looked in the mirror, not to see myself
I saw a creature with my body
the creature emenated a dark essence
With shining fangs and pulsing red eyes
And a bleeding hole where a heart should be.
The creature looked at me and pressed its claws to the glass.
I was stunned with fear.
Eventually, timidly put my hand to that of the creature.
The creature looked to my hand, and seemed to cry a glowing red tear.
A tear of loneliness.
A tear of sadness.
A tear... of longing.
I looked to him, and cried a tear of my own.
He looked at me with a look of questioning, which faded to a look of bottled up joy, kept for many years.
He then began to change. I looked at the bleeding hole, and the blood stopped.
A radiant light then emerged from it.
A sparkling mist covered his whole body, as I saw his dark barbed chains change to the shimmering robes of an angel.
His messy dark hair elongated and became silver.
His fangs became square, human teeth.
His claws retracted to his skin.
He was a a beautiful, shining angel.
He began to dissapear, but he mouthed the words 'thank you' as he left.
I pressed my hands against the glass as I shed waterfalls of tears.
The glass would not budge.
I pressed harder.
Nothing.
The last time, I pressed with all of my heart, as it flooded with longing, sorrow, and... love.
I opened my eyes and pushed a last time. The glass shattered immediately.
I climbed to the counter and through the shattered mirror, into a pure whise space.
A single golden light shone down.
I walked into it, and hovered above the ground.
And as I looked up at the smiling, tear-streaked face of my mirror- image angel, I knew that I wouldn't be going back to bed tonight.
