“The Price of Mars”
Rifles crossfire, grenades were volleyed
Bombs are dropped, deaths are morbid
Bullets fired – Someone’s hit
Need a medic! Need a medic! Nope that was it.
Death was inevitable as so we agree
But the war was won – the enemies’ flee!
We won the war! Half lived to see tomorrow
But behind the broad sentence, a sea full of sorrow
Families wonder is their sons made their fall
They, in months, received neither a mail nor a call
Even though they doubt, there is no greater fear
A telegram on the door – they know someone died was dear!
A Father saddened, mother cries
Some still got on with their lives
Some wept, some rejoiced their friend, brother, father outlasts,
A terrible war that was done in the past
Stories of hardships and challenges in wars from heyday
Rests in the minds of the young and the youth of today
Thinking that honor is gained by the matters of slay
And thinking that they have the skills – they had no price to pay
To kill a person, to hunt, to be hunted, to Death’s kiss
Anyone who didn’t experience war must take note of this:
Someone who perished,
Had a family he cherished!
