Tears that fall
Lips that cry
Cry out to the pain
Unending pain
His confusion
It was a confusion
A snarl in the depths
Worry cannot fade
Will not fade
Her future
Torn away, from her
Unmercifully ripped away
To get what she needed
Worked so hard
Fought, pushed her way through
Yet she got him
Incomplete b*****d
Success
Her glory
His shame
And yet again
Was he egocentric
Or altruistic?
A childhood of blind hatred
A young adulthood of practiced disregard
And an adult whose heart as cold as stone
In the evening, she was a realist
He was a man
When he was a boy
Fights came easily
Prejudice was forgiven
In the evening, he was imperfect
Fights that were thrown back to the past
Were reeled back in
Scratches with blood painted nails
Hoarse crying
Ecstasy driven
Fearful when the time came
Blood
Too much
Turmoil
Furore
Fracas
Never to feel this way again
A passing shadow
Long dead ghost
Elation
A feeling never felt before
In the end
Did she change him
A monster
Into a lake
Calm unchanging
She a beauty of her own kind
Did he change her
Confident in the day
By night
Insecure and worried
It was a confusion
A snarl in the depths
Husband and wife were partners in their lifelong gathered secrets
Precious secrets like the exquisite, smooth rocks
At the bottom of the river that flooded so long ago
The beauty in the depths.
