Because I would not answer his commands,
He though he saw the deed I tried to hide,
I felt the cold of metal on my hands,
I felt his questions test my sense of pride.
He begged me once again, “You must confess”,
For all the things I’ve done, I’ll surely pay,
And did I sin? I had to answer “Yes”,
And let the real guilty get away.
But why should I confess to felony
When I have never strayed from innocent?
The judge would never listen to my plea,
The jury members, blind from ignorance.
And to this day, I’m captive and alone,
I’m paying for a guilt I do not own.
