Wither away
Down to the core.
With each passing day,
You fade even more.
Crumble to nothing.
Crumble to dust.
You have been hurting,
So do what you must.
Blacken and die.
I'll tell you again:
Deceive me and lie
About your sweet end.
Rise from the ashes,
Scorched by the heat.
Everything crashes;
The cycle repeats.

Description:
This one has a kind of interesting backstory to it. I was staring at my palm branch from Palm Sunday (which was ages ago, fyi) and I wrote the first stanza. Then it got interesting and I think the dead plant turned into a phoenix.
My favorite line is the last one.... - Date: 01/23/2010
