I love going to the sea. I go there every day. I sit there, on a rock, just by the water... And I think... think of all that lives in there, in that massive blue pool of life. Every now and then a seagull flies above my head and screams. I then close my eyes and listen to the natural sounds of the sea... and I dream...
My dreams are always of the sea. It must be natural for me to think of myself as a creature of the blue. In most dreams I find myself floating around on the surface, on an infinite layer of soft water... I open my eyes and look around, seeing that there is no land, only me and the water... It seems like the world is timeless, and I once again close my eyes. It is then I start to notice water flowing across my face, and I feel like I’m being buried in happiness...
After sinking for a while, I open my eyes, and see. See the wonders of the... sea. There are fish around me now. They take no notice of me, and swim on as they always do. It seems as they swim nonstop, as if attempting to reach the end of infinity, always one wave behind...
I keep sinking, and soon I reach an underground forest, full of life. There are fish of all kinds of colours, living inside plants, or just swimming with the rest, aiming for something that does not exist. As I come closer, I see younger fish playing around, as if they where humans. I study them and wonder why. Why do they play as happily as this, and then, after some years, give up all child dreams and search infinity? I carefully sit down on something that might look somewhat like a tree. Here I close my eyes, and listen. You might think that the underwater world is dry of sounds, like another world of no emotions, but you are mistaken. If you listen closely, you can hear it all. The aura of all life. The distant sound of waves. Your own body. It all melts together, and becomes a symphony of joy. Unlike any other music, this song symbolises life, and how happiness is timeless.
I appear to be sinking again, the forest has disappeared, and all fish are gone. I can still hear them though. What do they sound like? That is not easy to explain... I hear... life. That is all that can be said... As I listen to the aura around me, I reach the end. The end. Of all. All that has ever been, and will ever be. I look around, and see no fish at all. I realise they are all gone. I have really reached the end. I look down, and a few tears force their way out. I hear the echo of my tears, and as the dripping fades away, I start to hear other sounds. I dry my eyes, and look up. As if caught by an upstream, I start floating upwards, and the sounds become clearer. It is the sound of the young. All those fish, playing around just a moment ago; they are here now, swimming towards me, almost smiling. Seeing a fish smile... that means a lot to me. I now realise the true infinity.
The fish pass me, and I continue to float upwards. I pass the forest, and see new fish playing around, and new fish searching for infinity. I float further, and pass through more fish. Then they are gone. And I burst through the water surface, now knowing a lot more of life down in the blue. I look up, and see the sun. When I look back down, I am awake. I sigh and get up. The sun is on its way down. All seagulls are gone. But I know in my heart that they will be back tomorrow. And so will I.
