I am the keeper of the stars
I look down at the homes and cars
Silent and invisible, I stay
Waiting to go out to play
Until the sun leaves the sky
And the moon rises up so high
And the stars shine bright
Like many flashlights in the night
I am the keeper of the stars
The burnt out ones I keep in jars
And put them beside my seat
Where I sew and where I eat
And set them out by the sun
They sit there till the day is done
And once the moon lights up the night
Once again they shine so bright
I am the keeper of the stars
I look down at the homes and cars
And polish every star till they shine so bright
And smile brightly through the night
I am the keeper of the stars
The burnt out ones I keep in jars
And when the long long night is done
They leave, to make space for the sun
I am the keeper of the stars, you see
And all night I sit up in the sky
The moon, the stars, and me.
