• Children gather, see the snow?
There is a girl travels to and fro,
    Bringing cold wherever she goes.
Her dress is covered by a shawl of white,
She hums and howls in the dead of night,
Come hither children, as i speak her cold name,
Itis one that you know, its well famed.

    Icey eyes like frozen ponds,
    For her crown ice-killed fronds.
A snowy shawl over brown-green dresses,
    Wiry, limp, deadend tresses,
In her breath the ice does come,
The killing wind the birds flee from.
A heart of stone, an iron hand.
Not a creature the ice queen's wrath can stand!
    Bitter, sour cold she brings,
This is a queen not owned by kings,
Gather about' as i tell her name,
For hers is one which is well famed,
    Gather about, hurry, come hither,
The name of this queen of ice is Winter.

    Winter rules the colder domains,
Each spring her sister chases her out again.
Winter is hardy, tough, and fierce,
But her sister's warmth doth make her feel fear.
    Winter is ruthless, cold, mean,
But once Spring comes she shan't be seen!
