some songs sing for better days
and relief from daily dissaray
dreams of escaping life's drama
and the same thing every day
but as they chant they cannot see
they are missing everything
the dreams, the hopes, the fantasies
of which they are always singing
open your eyes beyond your veil
there's a life beyond the world you created
see it through newfound eyes
this amazing world you left neglected
return to where you once stood
and recall what you stood for
remember you were once proud
before you'd hit the floor
don't just sing for better days
find them for yourself
stop being the media's new toy
sitting on the dusty shelf
break free from the scheme
that in time you know
will drop you like another rock
with nothing left to show

- its not so much that as they aren't looking for real talent anymore, they're lookin for the easiest cheapest way to go. the real talent gets left behind because they know what they're worth and wont settle for any less...it's a sad prospect but money wins over every time nowadays

Wow. I appreciate the effort you put into this piece. I can see you are a poet in your own right. I also can't say how much I appreciate the fact you actually typed in a literate manner!
Very interesting piece. It definitely captured the essence of what our music industry has become. It's a disappointment that they can no longer write good lyrics and have someone sitting behind a computer synthesizing their voices. Talent is, sadly, a thing of the past now. - Report As Spam
