• RAINY DAYS

    A snapped nerve
    A broken neck
    Around the curve
    Another step
    The lash, it stings
    Without a belt
    The screams, they sing.
    The screams for help.

    The rain’s a curse,
For a kid who wants to play
    All exits are blocked.
    The only choice
    Is to join the fray.
    On the days it rains
    All choices are clutch.
    But for one kid
    It rained too much.

    Fists are pounding
    But leave no bruise.
    Fear is surrounding.
    As I watch her muse.
    Her way of torture.
    And endless torment
    Is my way of grieving.
    My endless lament.

    I’m afraid my silver lining
    Has disappeared.
    And the days to come
    Are days to be feared.
    No hand will touch me
    No fist to swing.
    The things you say
    Are the demons you bring.

    The rain’s a curse,
For a kid who wants to play
    All exits are blocked.
    The only choice
    Is to join the fray.
    On the days it rains
    All choices are clutch
    But for one kid
    It rained too much.
