In a world that's constantly changing and rearranging I stand still
My grandma said "take it slow honey" and this I will
But what about my mother who forgets about me and my brother,
Replacing our love for each with a new drug
And when we see her every 10,000 miles all we get is a hug and a kiss goodbye
She's a car in the Indy 500 doing 125 and we're the pit crew fixing her up
And she'll be back after the next 40+ laps around the world only for another tune-up
Yet the more we fix her the worst she comes back, the more tired of fixing we get
Our love turning as black as the asphalt track but it never reaches zero,
Like her speedometer always above zero,
There's love for her always and hope for a better future,
So for now I stand still, the pit crew of a car
But for some reason I don't think I'll be here tomorrow.
